The Department Manager – Saree is responsible for driving sales, ensuring exceptional customer service, managing the saree department, maintaining visual merchandising standards, and leading the department team to achieve business objectives. The role requires strong product knowledge, team management skills, and the ability to deliver an excellent shopping experience while maximizing departmental profitability.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Business Development
- Achieve monthly and annual sales targets for the Saree department.
- Monitor daily sales performance and implement strategies to improve conversions and average bill value.
- Drive cross-selling and upselling of blouses, accessories, and other complementary products.
- Ensure high customer conversion and repeat business.
Customer Experience
- Deliver exceptional customer service and personalized styling assistance.
- Build strong relationships with customers and maintain a loyal customer base.
- Resolve customer concerns and escalations promptly and professionally.
- Ensure every customer receives a premium shopping experience.
Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and supervise the department team.
- Conduct daily briefings and allocate responsibilities.
- Coach and mentor team members on product knowledge, customer handling, and sales techniques.
- Monitor team productivity and attendance.
- Identify training needs and coordinate with the Learning & Development team.
Visual Merchandising
- Ensure attractive and organized display of sarees as per VM guidelines.
- Maintain department cleanliness and product presentation.
- Coordinate with the VM team for seasonal displays and promotions.
- Ensure new arrivals are displayed promptly.
Inventory Management
- Monitor stock availability and coordinate replenishment.
- Conduct regular stock audits and cycle counts.
- Minimize stock discrepancies and shrinkage.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of merchandise.
Operations
- Ensure smooth day-to-day functioning of the department.
- Monitor billing support, alterations coordination, and customer deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with company SOPs and operational standards.
- Maintain accurate departmental reports and documentation.
Compliance
- Ensure adherence to company policies, attendance, grooming, and discipline.
- Follow health & safety guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality of business information.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline (preferred).
Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in retail, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within the saree, ethnic wear, or luxury fashion segment.
