Change the world. Love your job.
Test is a crucial time in an IC development process; if you find a bug or an issue, it is a good time to fix it, but every additional second of testing we do, is additional cost when you scale a device into production. So, test engineers must identify the critical points of the device where testing is most necessary and the points where we may want to take some risk. It is a precise balance, that has the potential to save our businesses millions of dollars!
Test engineers spend a good amount of time in the lab and when they're not there, they are designing test hardware using software tools like cadence and building test programs on an ATE simulator, or troubleshooting – the programs or the device.
Why Multiphase Processor Power (MPP):
Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and data centers are just a few of the trends driving the need for high-current multiphase switching power in the Enterprise market. The Multiphase Processor Power product line is focused on bringing to market the multiphase controllers and Smart Power Stage (driver plus power FETs with integrated sensing) solutions for enterprise computing and other ASICs that are power hungry and require very high currents (can be 1000A+). The MPP team actively collaborates with TI’s advanced technology, packaging and research and development teams to deliver the highest power density solutions for the power level.
About the job
At TI, Test Engineers leverage strong technical knowledge working hands-on to bring differentiated power solutions to our customers globally. Test Engineers also partner closely with Design, Test, Systems and Application engineers to ensure our power solutions are both meeting customer and market requirements and are cost-wise optimized. The MPP product line is working on complex multiphase buck controllers and the world’s breakthrough technology to develop the high-power density power stages.
About the role and team:
- Work with the design team to understand design specifications and system challenges
- Generate test plan, create test and char program, design ATE hardware interface boards
- Debug characterizing silicon on ATE, and correlate results with bench data
- Analyze silicon results, supporting failure analysis tasks
- Perform statistical analysis of yield fallout, debug and fix yield issues; optimize test time
- Work with the production team to release products to volume production
- Test strategy definition and implementation for multiphase controller and power stage devices
- Silicon qualification, including the qual program development
- Comprehensive device debugging, design validation, and failure analysis
- Drive for robust and cost-effective test solutions while being accountable for product quality
- Work with the design and Firmware team to support customer needs, implement custom features in FW. Close collaboration with FW and validation teams to understand the device issues and bugs and find the FW level workaround for the fix.
- Engaging with customers with application engineers, to help them understand the device better, help to fix the issues, and provide modifications if any tweaks are needed. This is done in collaboration with Application engineers.
