Job Summary
The Maintenance Shift Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of plant equipment during the assigned shift.
The role involves executing preventive and breakdown maintenance, minimizing equipment downtime, maintaining safety compliance, and coordinating with production and utility teams to achieve uninterrupted plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth operation of all mechanical equipment during the assigned shift.
- Attend and resolve equipment breakdowns promptly to minimize production downtime.
- Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
- Maintain and troubleshoot pumps, compressors, blowers, gearboxes, agitators, reactors, heat exchangers, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, vacuum pumps, and other utility equipment.
- Supervise maintenance technicians and contractors during maintenance activities.- Ensure compliance with Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and all plant safety procedures.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Production, Utility, EHS, QA, and other departments to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
- Maintain maintenance records, shift logbooks, equipment history, and daily maintenance reports.
- Monitor spare parts availability and raise material requisitions when required.
- Support plant shutdowns, equipment installation, commissioning, and modification activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
Experience- 3–8 years of maintenance experience in a Chemical, API, Pharma, or Process Industry
Required Skill
-Mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting
- Preventive and breakdown maintenance- Root Cause Analysis (RCA)- PTW and LOTO implementation
- Team supervision and contractor management- Knowledge of pumps, rotating equipment, utilities, and process equipment
- Basic knowledge of SAP/CMMS
- MS Office and maintenance report preparation
