Job Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling all production activities to ensure the efficient manufacture of products that meet quality, safety, cost, and delivery requirements. The role involves managing manpower, production schedules, machine utilization, productivity improvement, and compliance with company policies and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Control
- Plan and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Ensure production targets are achieved as per demand forecasts and sales requirements.
- Monitor production efficiency and optimize machine utilization.
- Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, quality, and maintenance departments for smooth operations.
- Minimize production downtime and process interruptions.
Operations Management
- Supervise all production activities on the shop floor.
- Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor production output, wastage, and yield.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity.
- Ensure effective utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials.
Quality & Food Safety
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Maintain adherence to GMP, HACCP, ISO, FSSAI, and other applicable standards.
- Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team to address quality issues.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for production-related concerns.
Team Management
- Lead, train, and develop production supervisors and operators.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs.
- Ensure proper workforce allocation and shift management.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, discipline, and accountability.
Maintenance & Asset Management
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Ensure machines and equipment are operating efficiently.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements.
Cost Control & Productivity
- Monitor production costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Reduce material wastage and improve production yield.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE, productivity, downtime, and rejection rates.
- Implement lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations.
- Promote safe working practices across the production department.
- Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance related to manufacturing operations.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Analyze production data and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain production records and documentation accurately.
- Present operational performance reports to management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Food Technology, Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Additional certifications in GMP, HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma are preferred.
Experience
- 8–15 years of experience in FMCG manufacturing.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a Production Manager or similar leadership role.
- Experience in food processing/manufacturing industry preferred.
Pay: ₹450,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per month
