DIMENSION / SCOPE OF THE JOB:
The Purchasing Manager will lead and control all the purchasing activities for the specific Plants. This includes the direct material (Raw material & Components), Indirect material, Services, Job Works, Capex Purchases, complete P2P process, all compliance, Audit, GPP, ensure best practice implementation & adherence.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY OF THE POSTION
Provide leadership and utilize expertise to shape processes and supply directions / strategies throughout the organization.
As the Subject Matter Expert (SME), direct material- raw material-LME based material like copper, various steel components, sub-contracting, vendor management. Also responsible for executing all Indirect buying & services as per business / Plant requirements from all concern user department.
Effectively manage the day-to-day procurement activities of the plant ensuring smooth running of the plant, saving and improvement projects. Service, spare, P2P coordination.
Oversee the direct & Indirect spend and manage opportunities within the plant managed spend areas from opportunity detection through project development to implementation.
Actively participate and take the lead in further improvements of purchasing tools, processes (GPP and local) and guidelines from an Indirect Purchasing perspective.
Actively work with the team and other stakeholders and buyers on improving the supply base, spend management, Single source risk mitigation and payment terms.
Improve suppliers on quality and delivery.
Leadership, expertise and direction to buyers in negotiation strategy and during negotiations.
Effectively manage the overseas supplier base and lead the localization activities
Work closely with overseas counterparts and implement global guidelines, targets and projects. Effectively communicates the developments and opportunities with the team
Give training and coaching to buyers where required.
Monitor and execute purchasing business plan for this plant.
Ensure purchasing Audit compliance (Quality system, processes and Purchasing Process Controls)
Execute supplier contracts at plant levels & corporate approvals coordination.
SKILLS PROFILE ( add rows, if you so need)
Experience in leading the plant purchasing function independently including direct material, indirect material, Capex and Services.
High level supplier negotiations and materials management. Specialty in handling raw materials like Stainless Steels, Iron and Steel & Pressed components.
SAP Functional Knowledge and Project Management.
Exposure to deal with overseas supply base.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Materials Management or Diploma in Engg
Minimum 3 years’ experience in strategic direct purchasing and indirect purchasing, imports of materials.
Demonstrated background and proven experience with high level supplier negotiations and materials management.
Minimum 12 years’ experience in Purchasing or Materials Management with a preference for high-volume manufacturing industries.
