Job Purpose
We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented AutoCAD Draftsman to join our growing corporate interior design team. In this role, you will transform conceptual designs, mood boards, and sketches into highly accurate, detailed execution drawings and municipal/service layouts. You will act as the crucial bridge between our creative design team and the site execution team, ensuring that our corporate offices, coworking spaces, and commercial projects are built flawlessly.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Technical Documentation & Working Drawings
- Produce comprehensive Good For Construction (GFC) drawing sets, including detailed floor plans, reflected ceiling plans (RCP), flooring layouts, electrical/data layouts, and plumbing drawings.
- Create high-precision joinery and millwork details for custom corporate furniture, reception desks, conference tables, and specialized partitions.
- Develop detailed section drawings and elevations highlighting material specifications, finishes, and dimensions.
2. Collaboration & Coordination
- Work closely with Interior Designers and Project Architects to understand design intent and convert 3D visualizations into precise 2D working drawings.
- Coordinate with MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), HVAC, Firefighting, and Acoustic consultants to integrate their layouts into the master architectural plans, preventing site clashes.
- Incorporate site feedback and asynchronous redlines from Project Managers into revised drawing sets promptly.
3. Site Verification & Standards
- Visit project sites when necessary to take accurate physical measurements and verify existing site conditions before generating base plans.
- Ensure all drawings comply with national building codes, commercial corporate safety standards, and regional municipal bylaws.
- Maintain and organize the company's digital drawing database, ensuring strict version control (e.g., Rev 0, Rev 1) and proper archiving.
Required Skills & Qualifications
1. Education: Diploma or Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or ITI Draftsmanship.
2. Technical Software Expertise: * Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) is mandatory (dynamic blocks, Xrefs, layer management, and sheet sets).
3. Knowledge of 3ds Max, SketchUp, or Revit is a strong plus but not mandatory.
4. Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel) for preparing basic schedules.
5. Industry Experience: Minimum 2+ years of dedicated drafting experience specifically within corporate interiors or commercial real estate projects (offices, retail, tech parks).
6. Core Competencies:
- Deep understanding of commercial materials (glass, acoustic panels, laminates, veneer, drywall systems).
- Strong eye for detail, scale, and proportions.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
