Job Description: IB Librarian
Location: Parel, Mumbai
Working Days: Monday to Friday and Alternate/Saturday Half Day
Working Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable IB Librarian to manage and develop a dynamic school library that supports inquiry-based learning, literacy development, and academic research. The ideal candidate will foster a love for reading, encourage information literacy, and create an engaging learning environment that supports students, teachers, and the broader school community.
Key ResponsibilitiesLibrary Management
- Manage daily library operations, including cataloguing, circulation, acquisition, and inventory management.
- Maintain accurate library records, reports, and documentation.
- Ensure effective organization and accessibility of library resources.
- Oversee both physical and digital library collections.
Resource Development
- Curate age-appropriate, diverse, and curriculum-aligned learning resources.
- Develop and maintain a collection that supports academic excellence, research, and independent learning.
- Support multilingual and inclusive reading materials for a diverse student population.
Curriculum Support
- Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction, research projects, and inquiry-based learning.
- Assist students with research methodologies, information literacy, and ethical use of information.
- Support academic projects, presentations, and extended research assignments.
Student Engagement & Reading Promotion
- Foster a strong reading culture through storytelling sessions, book clubs, reading challenges, literary events, and book fairs.
- Encourage lifelong learning, creativity, and critical thinking through library programs.
- Guide students in selecting appropriate reading materials based on age and interests.
Learning Environment
- Create and maintain a welcoming, organized, and inspiring library space.
- Promote a culture of curiosity, exploration, and independent learning.
- Ensure the library remains a collaborative and student-centered learning hub.
Professional Development
- Stay updated with current library science practices, educational technologies, and international library standards.
- Introduce innovative resources and tools that enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Library Science (B.Lib / M.Lib).
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience as a School Librarian.
- Familiarity with International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum frameworks is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of library management systems and digital resources.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for children's literature, literacy development, and education.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and school leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in international schools or progressive educational environments.
- Exposure to inquiry-based and student-centered learning approaches.
- Experience with digital libraries, online databases, and research platforms.
- Knowledge of contemporary educational technologies and information management systems.
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
