About the Role
Focal Middle East is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and manage electrical design,
implementation, and project delivery for high-profile developments, including data centers, commercial,
residential, and mixed-use projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing and
optimizing electrical systems, ensuring compliance with local and international standards, and driving
sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop electrical system designs for high-performance buildings, including power distribution,
lighting, ELV, and renewable energy solutions.
Ensure compliance with local authority regulations and international standards (e.g., IEC, BS, NEC,
IEEE).
Integrate energy-efficient and sustainable solutions to meet project and client sustainability
targets (LEED, Estidama, or similar).
- Project Management & Delivery
Lead electrical engineering projects from concept to commissioning, ensuring timely and
budget-conscious execution.
Coordinate with MEP, structural, architectural, and sustainability teams to ensure seamless
integration of electrical systems.
Oversee contractor and supplier selections, technical evaluations, and value engineering to
optimize costs and performance.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance
Conduct risk assessments and ensure all electrical designs meet safety, fire, and authority
requirements.
Support the extension of ISO 9001-certified quality assurance processes within the electrical
discipline.
Drive commissioning, testing, and handover procedures in collaboration with consultants and
contractors.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the technical advisor for clients, developers, and project managers, ensuring clarity on
electrical system capabilities.
Develop reports, presentations, and feasibility studies to support decision-making
Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers within the team.
Key Requirements:
- Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. A Master's Degree in relevant field is an advantage.
Minimum 10+ years of experience in electrical design and project delivery, ideally within data
centers, commercial buildings, or infrastructure projects.
Any of the relevant professional certification (e.g., LEED AP, PMP, CEng, DEWA/UAE Electrical
Engineer License).
Strong expertise in LV power distribution, UPS systems, generators, and renewable energy
integration.
Basic understanding of HV distribution is required.
Proficiency in electrical design software (Amtech, ETAP, Dialux, Revit MEP, AutoCAD).
Experience working with grid and utility providers in the Middle East.
Leadership, problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong written and oral communication skills to liaise within the team and with clients,
consultants, and internal teams.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to drive projects to completion efficiently.
