1. Job Purpose
To ensure safe, reliable and uninterrupted electrical power and equipment availability for manufacturing operations through preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting, energy management and continuous improvement.
2. Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance
- Carry out preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of electrical systems and manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults in motors, control panels, MCCs, PCCs, transformers, DG sets, VFDs, UPS and other electrical equipment.
- Ensure minimum machine downtime through quick and effective fault diagnosis.
- Monitor electrical equipment health and identify potential failures.
- Maintain electrical maintenance records, checklists and equipment history.
Production Support
- Provide immediate electrical support to Production during machine breakdowns.
- Coordinate with Production, Mechanical, Instrumentation and other Engineering teams.
- Support installation, commissioning and modification of new machinery.
- Ensure electrical equipment availability as per production requirements.
Preventive Maintenance
- Prepare and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
- Monitor PM compliance and pending maintenance activities.
- Maintain critical spare inventory and recommend minimum stock levels.
- Analyse recurring breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
Electrical Systems
- Maintain and monitor HT/LT electrical systems, transformers, panels, MCC/PCC, motors and distribution systems.
- Monitor DG sets, power factor, capacitor banks and electrical load.
- Ensure proper functioning of earthing and electrical protection systems.
- Monitor power consumption and identify opportunities for energy saving.
Automation & Controls
- Troubleshoot basic PLC, VFD, sensors, relays, contactors and control circuits.
- Coordinate with automation teams/vendors for PLC and machine-control-related issues.
- Support electrical modifications and machine improvement projects.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures and statutory requirements.
- Implement LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures during maintenance.
- Conduct electrical inspections and ensure proper PPE usage.
- Ensure safe working practices for electrical maintenance personnel.
- Support statutory electrical inspections and audits.
3. Breakdown Management KPIs

- Coordinate with electrical contractors and equipment vendors.
- Supervise outsourced maintenance activities.
- Verify quality of work and ensure timely completion.
- Support AMC activities for electrical equipment.
- Check service reports and contractor performance.

An Electrical Engineer with strong hands-on manufacturing plant experience, capable of independently troubleshooting industrial electrical systems, supporting production during breakdowns, managing preventive maintenance and leading electrical improvement projects.
