Job Summary
The Junior Lab Technician is responsible for assisting in laboratory testing, specimen collection and processing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation of test results. The role supports the delivery of timely and reliable diagnostic services while adhering to quality, safety, and infection control standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Operations
- Collect, label, and process patient specimens such as blood, urine, sputum, and other samples.
- Perform routine laboratory investigations under the supervision of senior laboratory personnel.
- Prepare samples, reagents, and laboratory equipment for testing.
- Assist in conducting tests in Hematology, Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, Serology, and Microbiology.
- Record and report test results accurately and promptly.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of specimens.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Operate laboratory equipment according to standard operating procedures.
- Clean and maintain laboratory instruments and work areas.
- Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance requirements to senior staff.
- Assist in calibration and quality control activities.
Documentation & Quality Control
- Maintain laboratory records, registers, and reports accurately.
- Follow laboratory quality assurance procedures and protocols.
- Assist during audits, inspections, and accreditation activities.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information and laboratory data.
Safety & Infection Control
- Adhere to laboratory safety guidelines and infection control practices.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.
- Follow biomedical waste segregation and disposal procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) or
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (B.Sc. MLT).
Experience
- 0–3 years of experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory.
- Freshers with relevant qualifications may apply.
Skills & Competencies
- Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and sample handling.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is an advantage.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Working Conditions
- Hospital-based laboratory environment.
- Rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
- Exposure to biological samples and laboratory chemicals while following safety protocols.
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
