Job Title: Fitter (Fabrication – Boilers & Pressure Vessels)
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication sketches, and welding symbols.
- Perform fit-up, assembly, and alignment of pressure vessels, tanks, sheet metal structures, and piping systems.
- Coordinate with welders to ensure proper joint preparation and tolerance compliance.
- Carry out marking, cutting, grinding, drilling, and tack welding activities.
- Assemble components using appropriate tools, jigs, and fixtures.
- Ensure all work complies with ASME / IS standards, shop procedures, and quality requirements.
- Inspect completed assemblies for dimensional accuracy and finishing quality.
- Follow all HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) practices and report unsafe conditions.
- Work with supervisors and production teams to achieve daily production targets.
- Perform basic maintenance of tools and equipment used in fitting operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in fabrication of boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, sheet metal, and piping systems.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes: SMAW, MIG, TIG (basic understanding).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, tolerances, and material specifications.
- Knowledge of industrial safety practices, PPE usage, and handling heavy equipment.
- Skilled in using fabrication tools: grinders, cutting machines, measuring instruments (vernier, tape, level, angle finder).
- Basic knowledge of ASME, IS codes, or equivalent fabrication standards.
- Physically fit and capable of working in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Mechanical, Fabrication, or related field.
- Experience in heavy fabrication or manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of hydrotesting, NDT preparation, and QA/QC processes.
