WHAT YOU WILL OWN
1. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Bridge
– Act as the primary liaison between the technology/engineering team and business
stakeholders — academic leadership, admissions, operations, marketing, and finance — to
ensure shared understanding of priorities and constraints.
– Translate business, academic, and compliance requirements (e.g., UGC/AICTE norms,
university processes) into clear product requirements, user stories, and technical
specifications for the engineering team.
– Translate technical trade-offs, timelines, and constraints into language that non-technical
stakeholders can use to make decisions.
– Run regular syncs with both sides to keep roadmaps, expectations, and timelines aligned;
proactively flag risks before they become blockers.
2. Product Ownership
– Own the end-to-end product lifecycle — discovery, requirement-gathering, prioritisation,
specification, build, QA, launch, and iteration — for K12 and/or university technology products.
– Maintain and prioritise the product backlog based on business impact, user needs, academic
calendars, and technical feasibility.
– Define and track success metrics (adoption, performance, error rates, user satisfaction) for
each release.
– Write clear PRDs, user flows, and acceptance criteria; review wireframes and UX with both
academic and technical lenses.
3. Delivery & Execution
– Work closely with developers (in-house and/or vendor teams) on sprint planning, backlog
grooming, and release management.
– Coordinate UAT (user acceptance testing) with academic/business teams before go-live, and
manage structured rollouts during the academic calendar — admissions cycles, exam
periods, and semester transitions.
– Triage and prioritise bugs and issues reported by faculty, students, or administrative staff,
ensuring timely resolution with the tech team.
– Maintain product documentation, release notes, and training materials for internal and
academic end-users.
4. Domain & Compliance Awareness
– Develop a working understanding of K12 and higher-education workflows — admissions,
academics, examinations, student records, faculty management, and e-
governance/regulatory reporting.
– Ensure products align with relevant regulatory and compliance requirements (UGC, AICTE,
data privacy norms for student data), working with compliance and legal stakeholders as
needed.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Technical and Functional Skills
– Product lifecycle management: ability to own a product end-to-end from discovery through launch and iteration, across K12 and higher-education contexts.
– Requirements engineering: experience writing PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria
that engineering teams can build from and academic stakeholders can validate.
– Agile delivery: hands-on experience with sprint planning, backlog grooming, release management, and structured UAT processes.
– Data and analytics: ability to define product success metrics, track them, and use findings to drive prioritisation and improvement.
– Technical fluency: comfortable reading API documentation, data models, and basic technical specifications; ability to participate credibly in architecture and trade-off discussions.
Leadership and Behavioural Skills
– Stakeholder management: able to manage competing priorities and expectations across
engineering, academic, operations, and finance teams simultaneously.
– Communication: skilled at translating complex technical concepts into plain language for non- technical audiences, and vice versa.
– Ownership mindset: takes accountability for product outcomes, not just delivery process;
follows through until things actually work for end users.
– Startup resilience: comfortable building and operating simultaneously, making decisions with incomplete information, and maintaining quality under pace and ambiguity.
Domain Knowledge (Preferred)
– Prior experience with K12 or higher-education products — LMS, student information systems (SIS), ERP, online degree platforms, or similar.
– Familiarity with Indian higher-education regulatory frameworks including UGC, AICTE, NAAC, and e-governance reporting norms.
– Exposure to design tools such as Figma, basic SQL for data queries, or low-code/no-code
platforms.
– Experience working with distributed or vendor-managed engineering teams.
QUALIFICATION
– Undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, Business
Administration, or a related field from a reputed institution is preferred.
– Candidates with an outstanding track record in technical product management or business
analysis in complex, process-heavy environments will be considered regardless of formal
qualification.
