Position: LEAD PHYSIOTHERAPIST
Organisation: ZenO Physio LLP
Brand: ZenO Physiotherapy
Location: Haralur Main Road, Bengaluru
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reporting To: Management
Experience: 8+ years preferred
About the Role
ZenO Physiotherapy is looking for an experienced and highly responsible Lead Physiotherapist to take ownership of patient care, clinical quality, team guidance, and smooth day-to-day clinical functioning of the clinic.
This is a hands-on leadership role and is not limited to treating individually assigned patients. The Lead Physiotherapist will be expected to consult as well as treat their own patients while also guiding the physiotherapy team, reviewing complex cases, maintaining treatment standards, supporting patient continuity, handling clinical escalations, and coordinating key clinical and operational activities required for smooth clinic functioning.
The ideal candidate should combine strong clinical skills with leadership, accountability, patient communication, and an ownership mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, identify functional limitations, recognise red flags, and develop individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans.
- Independently manage patients across relevant musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, neurological, sports injury, post-operative, pain management, mobility, and rehabilitation cases within professional competence.
- Deliver evidence-informed physiotherapy treatment, exercise therapy, rehabilitation programmes, manual techniques, and electrotherapy modalities where clinically appropriate.
- Regularly reassess patient progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical response, functional improvement, recovery goals, and patient needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, reassessments, precautions, handovers, and discharge recommendations as per clinic processes.
- Take overall ownership of clinical quality and patient-care standards within the clinic and ensure consistent, safe, ethical, and professional treatment practices across the physiotherapy team.
- Supervise, guide, mentor, and support Senior, Junior, Fresher, Intern, and other Physiotherapists, including support with assessment, clinical reasoning, treatment planning, exercise progression, documentation, and patient communication.
- Review complex, difficult, recurring, slow-progressing, or non-improving cases and provide clinical guidance or direct intervention where required.
- Conduct case discussions, provide practical feedback, identify skill gaps, and support continuous improvement of the clinical team.
- Support onboarding, orientation, and clinical training of newly joined physiotherapists.
- Review daily appointments and support appropriate patient allocation based on clinical complexity, therapist competence, continuity of care, workload, and available capacity.
- Coordinate patient flow and treatment continuity during peak hours, staff leave, shift changes, emergency absences, therapist transitions, or other operational disruptions.
- Ensure appropriate patient handovers between physiotherapists so that treatment continuity is not affected.
- Monitor patient progress and identify patients who are not improving, repeatedly missing sessions, dissatisfied with treatment, at risk of dropping out, or requiring reassessment or medical referral.
- Support appropriate patient follow-ups for missed appointments, incomplete treatment plans, reassessments, progress checks, and unexpected treatment discontinuation.
- Work towards reducing avoidable patient drop-offs through better clinical outcomes, clear communication, timely follow-up, treatment continuity, and improved patient experience.
- Clearly explain assessment findings, treatment plans, expected recovery processes, home exercises, precautions, and rehabilitation expectations to patients without making false guarantees.
- Handle patient concerns, dissatisfaction, and clinical complaints professionally and support timely resolution.
- Act as a key clinical escalation point for serious patient concerns, adverse responses, difficult cases, safety issues, and treatment-related complaints.
- Identify cases requiring referral to an orthopaedic doctor, neurologist, physician, surgeon, or other appropriate healthcare professional.
- Ensure high standards of patient experience, professional communication, privacy, dignity, and ethical care.
- Oversee clinical readiness of treatment areas and ensure that issues affecting cleanliness, hygiene, safety, patient privacy, or treatment readiness are identified, escalated, and followed up appropriately.
- Ensure appropriate and safe use of physiotherapy machines, modalities, devices, and clinical equipment by the team.
- Identify and promptly report equipment malfunction, damage, unsafe conditions, missing accessories, maintenance needs, or other issues that may affect patient care.
- Support monitoring of essential clinical consumables and treatment supplies, identify potential shortages in advance, and ensure timely escalation to the responsible person or management.
- Support smooth day-to-day coordination between physiotherapists, reception, support staff, and management wherever required for patient care and clinic functioning.
- Maintain high standards of punctuality, attendance, shift discipline, professional conduct, and timely communication regarding delays, emergencies, or leave.
- Support appropriate patient and work handovers during planned leave, emergency absence, shift changes, or staff transitions.
- Perform clinic opening or closing responsibilities when assigned, including reasonable checks related to treatment readiness, equipment, electrical devices, access, safety, and confidentiality.
- Respond appropriately to medical or operational emergencies within professional competence and immediately escalate serious incidents to management or emergency medical services where required.
- Provide timely updates and reports to management regarding important clinical cases, patient complaints, non-improving patients, treatment drop-offs, team concerns, documentation gaps, equipment issues, stock concerns, safety incidents, and operational bottlenecks.
- Follow and support implementation of clinic SOPs, clinical protocols, documentation standards, checklists, reporting systems, safety procedures, and operational processes.
- Participate in regular team meetings, clinical reviews, case discussions, training sessions, performance discussions, and process-improvement initiatives.
- Support ethical and sustainable clinic growth by improving treatment-plan adherence, patient satisfaction, continuity of care, genuine patient referrals, and overall service quality.
- Support genuine patient feedback and review collection at appropriate stages of the patient journey without coercion, fabrication, or misrepresentation.
- Participate, when reasonably required, in patient education initiatives, health camps, society activities, corporate wellness programmes, workshops, awareness sessions, clinic events, and other clinic growth initiatives.
- Provide clinical inputs for patient education materials, awareness content, social media communication, or other clinic initiatives where professional expertise is relevant.
- Proactively identify clinical and operational problems, take reasonable first-level action within authority, escalate matters requiring management intervention, and follow up on unresolved issues.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient records, clinical information, internal business information, employee information, systems, processes, and other confidential data.
- Maintain professional boundaries and comply with clinic policies regarding patient data, conflict of interest, patient non-diversion, ethical conduct, and use of clinic resources.
