The STP Operator is responsible for the efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the hotel's Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). The role ensures that wastewater is treated according to environmental regulations, treated water is suitable for reuse where applicable, and all plant equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the hotel's Sewage Treatment Plant on a daily basis.
- Ensure continuous operation of pumps, blowers, dosing systems, filters, and other STP equipment.
- Check and record operational parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), MLSS, flow rate, chlorine residual, and TDS as required.
- Collect water samples and coordinate laboratory testing as per hotel standards.
- Ensure treated water quality complies with local pollution control board regulations.
- Reuse treated water for gardening, cooling towers, flushing, or other approved purposes.
- Perform routine inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance of STP equipment.
- Identify equipment faults and coordinate repairs with the engineering team.
- Maintain daily operation logs, maintenance records, chemical consumption records, and water quality reports.
- Monitor and maintain adequate stock of treatment chemicals and consumables.
- Ensure proper sludge handling and disposal according to environmental guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of the STP area.
- Follow all hotel safety, hygiene, and environmental policies.
- Support water conservation and sustainability initiatives within the hotel.
- Assist during audits and inspections by government authorities and hotel management.
- Respond promptly to plant alarms, breakdowns, and emergency situations.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of STP operation and wastewater treatment processes.
- Understanding of pumps, blowers, motors, dosing systems, and filtration equipment.
- Basic knowledge of water quality testing and chemical dosing.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Good record-keeping and communication skills.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
- ITI/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in STP operation, preferably in a hotel, resort, hospital, or commercial building.
- Certification in STP/WTP operation is an added advantage.
Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Work in mechanical and outdoor plant areas.
- May require handling treatment chemicals and wearing appropriate PPE.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
