Qualification
- B.Sc Nursing / GNM from a recognized institution
- Valid Registration with State Nursing Council
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Job Summary
The ICU Staff Nurse is responsible for providing specialized and critical care nursing services to patients admitted in the Intensive Care Unit. The nurse ensures continuous monitoring, timely intervention, and high-quality patient care in accordance with hospital policies and **National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers standards.
Roles & Responsibilities1. Critical Patient Care
- Provide intensive nursing care to critically ill patients in ICU.
- Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythm, oxygen saturation, and neurological status.
- Ensure timely administration of medications, IV fluids, and life-support treatments.
2. Patient Monitoring
- Continuously monitor patients using cardiac monitors, ventilators, and other ICU equipment.
- Identify and report any changes in patient condition immediately to the doctor.
3. Emergency & Life Support
- Respond quickly to medical emergencies and code situations.
- Assist doctors during resuscitation procedures and emergency interventions.
4. Clinical Procedures
- Assist in intubation, central line insertion, ventilator management, suctioning, and other ICU procedures.
- Ensure proper pre and post-procedure patient care.
5. Medication Administration
- Administer critical care medications, injections, and IV infusions as prescribed.
- Monitor patients for drug reactions and complications.
6. Documentation
- Maintain accurate ICU patient records, nursing notes, and treatment charts.
- Record vital parameters, intake-output charts, and patient progress.
7. Infection Control
- Follow strict infection control protocols and isolation precautions.
- Ensure proper hand hygiene and biomedical waste management.
8. Communication
- Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, and other departments for patient care.
- Communicate patient status clearly to consultants and ICU in-charge.
9. Equipment Management
- Ensure proper functioning of ICU equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and monitors.
- Report equipment malfunction immediately.
10. Compliance & Quality
- Follow hospital policies and **National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers guidelines.
- Participate in clinical audits, training programs, and quality improvement activities.
