About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Tech Lead Manager (TLM) to lead a small, high-impact infrastructure engineering team. This role is for someone who codes as much as they lead — you'll be setting technical direction, reviewing designs and PRs, and staying close to production, while also owning team execution, hiring, and mentorship. You should be equally comfortable debugging a production incident at 2 AM and writing a quarterly roadmap.
What You'll Do
Lead and grow a team of 3–4 infrastructure/platform engineers — set priorities, run 1:1s, mentor, and support career growth
Own the technical architecture and roadmap for cloud infrastructure across compute, networking, and platform tooling
Stay hands-on: write code, review PRs, design systems, and personally drive complex or high-risk technical initiatives
Build and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-efficient infrastructure on AWS
Drive Infrastructure as Code practices across the team using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Helm
Operate and scale Kubernetes clusters in production, including upgrades, capacity planning, and reliability improvements
Champion an operational mindset — own on-call processes, incident response, postmortems, and continuous reliability improvements
Automate operational workflows using Python and Bash
Partner with cross-functional teams (security, product, application engineering) to align infrastructure with business needs
Evaluate and introduce new tools/practices (e.g., GitOps workflows) to improve developer velocity and system reliability
Must-Have Requirements
6+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure / platform / DevOps engineering, including prior experience leading or mentoring engineers
Strong hands-on expertise with Kubernetes (cluster operations, troubleshooting, scaling, upgrades)
Deep experience with AWS (core services, networking, IAM, cost and capacity management)
Strong coding ability in Python and Bash for automation and tooling
Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code: CloudFormation, Terraform, and Helm
Demonstrated operational mindset — comfortable owning uptime, incident response, and on-call practices for a production environment
Experience leading or tech-leading a small team (3–4 engineers), including code/design reviews and technical mentorship
Good to Have
Experience with Azure and/or OCI
Proficiency in Go
Hands-on experience with GitOps workflows and tooling (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux)
What We're Looking For
A strong individual contributor at heart who has grown into (or is ready to grow into) people leadership
Someone who leads by example technically — writing code and setting the bar, not just delegating
Excellent judgment under pressure, especially during incidents
Clear communicator who can translate technical tradeoffs to both engineers and stakeholders
