The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, generating leads, developing client relationships, participating in tendering activities, and achieving sales targets for electrical engineering and EPC projects. The role requires regular interaction with consultants, developers, industries, contractors, government departments, and corporate clients.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in electrical EPC, contracting, electrical products, infrastructure, commercial, and industrial projects.
- Generate qualified leads through networking, references, online platforms, consultants, and market research.
- Develop and execute business development strategies to increase revenue and market presence.
- Build long-term relationships with clients, consultants, architects, project management consultants (PMCs), builders, government agencies, and industrial customers.
- Prepare annual and quarterly business development plans.
Sales & Client Acquisition
- Meet prospective clients to understand project requirements.
- Present company capabilities, project portfolio, and technical solutions.
- Conduct client meetings, presentations, and negotiations.
- Convert enquiries into confirmed business opportunities.
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and ensure target achievement.
Tendering & Proposal Management
- Identify suitable tenders through various procurement portals and market intelligence.
- Coordinate with estimation, engineering, procurement, and project teams for preparation of techno-commercial proposals.
- Participate in bid discussions and commercial negotiations.
- Follow up with clients until award of projects.
Market Research
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, government projects, and upcoming developments.
- Identify opportunities in renewable energy, industrial plants, commercial complexes, hospitals, educational institutions, hotels, residential townships, manufacturing facilities, and public infrastructure.
Customer Relationship Management
- Develop strong client relationships to encourage repeat business.
- Resolve client concerns promptly and professionally.
- Maintain regular communication with existing customers.
- Enhance customer satisfaction and brand reputation.
Coordination
- Coordinate with Engineering, Estimation, Procurement, Finance, Legal, and Project Execution teams to ensure smooth project acquisition and handover.
- Support project teams during pre-award and post-award stages.
Reporting
- Maintain CRM and sales records.
- Prepare weekly and monthly business development reports.
- Track enquiries, proposals, negotiations, order status, and revenue forecasts.
- Report business performance to senior management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- MBA in Marketing or Business Development will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Business Development, Sales, Marketing, Tendering, or Client Acquisition.
- Experience in Electrical EPC, Electrical Contracting, selling electrical products, Industrial Projects, Infrastructure, Power Distribution, MEP, or Construction industry is preferred
