About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Design & Automation Engineer to join our R&D team focused on automation (autonomous systems) and system integration. The ideal candidate should possess strong fundamentals in mechanical design, machine development, system integration, and automation.
This role requires an engineer who enjoys building systems from first principles and is capable of translating concepts into practical machines and integrated solutions. The candidate should have experience in CAD, machine design, manufacturing, robotics, & automation systems, & should be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment.
Candidates with previous involvement in BAJA SAE, Formula Student (SUPRA), Robotics Clubs are strongly preferred.
Educational Qualifications
Preferred
- B.Tech / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related disciplines.
- Preferably from IITs, NITs, IIITs..
Experience
- 1+ years of experience in mechanical design, automation, or machine development.
- Experience in industrial automation, robotics, machine building, or process equipment design is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in recycling systems, manufacturing machinery, or special purpose machines (SPMs) is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical System Design
- Design and develop mechanical systems and equipment for recycling and material processing applications.
- Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Design structures, chassis, frames, enclosures, and machine components.
- Perform design optimization considering manufacturability, reliability, and maintenance.
Automation and Robotics
- Support automation and robotic system integration.
- Understand sensor systems, actuators, motion control, and machine kinematics.
- Assist in integrating autonomous and robotic subsystems where applicable.
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, and software teams for complete system integration.
Research and Technology Development
- Conduct technical research and benchmarking of existing technologies.
- Evaluate commercially available components and recommend suitable solutions.
- Understand process requirements and translate them into engineering solutions.
- Participate in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
Technical Skills
Mechanical Design
- SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA, Creo, Inventor, or equivalent CAD software.
- GD&T and engineering drawings.
- Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
Automation and Robotics
- Fundamentals of robotics and autonomous systems.
- Sensor integration and motion control.
- Motors, drives, and actuators.
- Understanding of PLCs and industrial automation systems.
- Familiarity with robotic manipulators and machine vision is desirable.
Preferred Background
