Job Summary
We are hiring a Safety Officer for our active project site in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The candidate will be responsible for implementing and enforcing all Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) protocols on-site, ensuring statutory compliance, and building a strong safety culture across all workforces.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and monitor the site-specific HSE plan in line with company policy and statutory regulations
Conduct daily site inspections, toolbox talks, and safety inductions for workers and sub-contractors
Identify hazards, perform risk assessments (JSA/JHA), and initiate corrective actions
Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, Building & Construction Workers Act, and Tamil Nadu state safety norms
Maintain and update all safety registers, incident reports, near-miss records, and HIRA documents
Coordinate with client HSE teams and ensure vendor compliance during joint audits
Oversee PPE distribution, usage, and periodic inspection of safety equipment
Investigate accidents and near-misses, prepare root cause analysis reports, and drive closure of findings
Conduct monthly mock drills — fire evacuation, first aid, and emergency response
Prepare and submit weekly/monthly HSE MIS reports to the project team
Liaise with local authorities including inspectorates and fire department as required
Qualifications & Education
Diploma or Degree in Safety Science, Fire & Safety, or Industrial Safety
NEBOSH / IOSH Certification preferred
First Aid and Fire Safety Certified
Knowledge of ISO 45001, Permit to Work (PTW), and scaffolding/height work safety
Familiarity with electrical safety, confined space entry, and hot work permits
Experience Required
Freshers with a Safety Diploma/Degree and relevant certifications are welcome to apply
Experienced candidates with up to 6 years of site safety experience in EPC, construction, or telecom projects preferred
Prior exposure to clients like Reliance Jio, Airtel, HFCL, or L&T is an advantage
