We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power System Engineer to lead the electrical engineering and grid integration of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This role requires deep expertise in battery DC systems along with full ownership of the electrical balance of plant (eBOP), including Power Conversion Systems (PCS), transformers, switchgear, distribution boards (DBs), protection systems, and Energy Management System (EMS) integration.
The ideal candidate will be capable of independently developing system architecture, performing detailed engineering, selecting key electrical equipment, and overseeing testing & commissioning to ensure safe, reliable, and optimized project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Engineering & System Design
- Lead end-to-end electrical design for BESS projects from concept through commissioning.
- Develop system architecture covering battery DC systems, PCS, transformers, MV/LV networks, switchgear, distribution boards, auxiliary systems, grounding, and protection schemes.
- Perform detailed engineering calculations and studies including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and harmonic analysis.
Equipment Design & Selection
- Lead technical evaluation, sizing, specification, and selection of:
- Power Conversion Systems
- Medium- and low-voltage transformers
- Main LT/MV switchgear and protection relays
- AC/DC Distribution Boards and auxiliary panels
- Cables, busbars, and termination systems
- Optimize equipment selection based on efficiency, lifecycle cost, redundancy philosophy, and project-specific operating principles.
- Prepare technical specifications and support procurement during vendor evaluation.
Integration & Controls
- Define integration strategy between battery systems, PCS, EMS, SCADA, and utility/grid interfaces.
- Support EMS functional design aligned with applications such as peak shaving, frequency regulation, microgrids, renewable firming, and backup power.
- Ensure interoperability across OEM equipment and compliance with grid codes.
Project Execution & Delivery
- Develop and validate detailed Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Review vendor drawings, GA diagrams, SLDs, and protection philosophies.
- Provide technical leadership during installation.
- Oversee Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and Testing & Commissioning (T&C).
- Troubleshoot technical issues during commissioning and early operations.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure designs comply with IEC, IEEE, CEA, BIS, and relevant utility requirements.
- Support grid interconnection processes and coordinate with utilities, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
Technical Leadership
- Act as the primary electrical authority for BESS projects.
- Mentor junior engineers and establish engineering best practices.
- Support business development and proposal teams with technical inputs and solution optimisation.
Qualification
- Min Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/ Power Systems
- 6–10 years of experience in power system engineering, battery energy storage, substations, renewables, utility scale energy storage or hybrid renewable projects
- Demonstrated experience in cable, PCS and transformer sizing/selection and MV/LV system design.
- Strong understanding of battery DC architecture and grid-connected systems.
- Hands-on experience with power system study tools such as ETAP, DIgSILENT, PSCAD, or equivalent.
- Proven track record overseeing Testing & Commissioning.
- Excellent understanding of Indian grid code and interconnection requirements
- Exposure to microgrid design is highly desirable.
- Prior technical leadership or project engineering experience.

Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹150,000.00 per month
