A Mechanical Design Engineer translates functional requirements into physical products. They oversee a project’s lifecycle—researching, modeling, prototyping, and testing components. - Design & Drafting: Create 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications. [1, 2]
- Analysis & Simulation: Perform stress, thermal, and fluid dynamics testing using FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD software. [1, 2]
- Prototyping & Validation: Build and evaluate physical prototypes, analyzing failure modes and iterating designs. [1, 2]
- Documentation: Maintain BOMs (Bills of Materials), engineering specifications, and compliance records according to industry regulations. [1, 2]
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to optimize parts for production. [1, 2]
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of CAD packages (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or Creo).
