Job Title: Optometrist
Job Summary:
Examine patients' eyes to diagnose vision problems, prescribe corrective lenses, detect eye diseases, and provide comprehensive eye care services to improve and maintain visual health.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision tests.
- Diagnose refractive errors and prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses.
- Detect and manage common eye conditions and diseases.
- Assess patients for signs of systemic health conditions that may affect vision.
- Prescribe medications for certain eye conditions where permitted.
- Educate patients on eye health, vision care, and preventive measures.
- Fit and evaluate contact lenses.
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment plans.
- Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists when necessary.
- Stay current with advances in optometry and eye care technology.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree or equivalent qualification recognized by the relevant authority.
- Valid optometry license/registration.
- Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and vision science.
- Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
