· Designation: Pathology Lab Technician
· Department: Pathology / Laboratory Services
· Reporting To: Laboratory In-charge / Consultant Pathologist
· Location: Jabalpur Hospital & Research Centre, Jabalpur
2. Purpose of the Position
· To perform laboratory investigations accurately and efficiently, maintain laboratory quality standards, support patient diagnosis and treatment, and ensure compliance with NABH and biomedical safety protocols.
3. Key Responsibilities
· Collect blood and other specimens using proper aseptic techniques.
· Label, transport, and store specimens appropriately.
· Perform routine and specialized laboratory investigations as assigned.
· Operate laboratory equipment and analyzers efficiently.
· Maintain accuracy and turnaround time of reports.
· Perform daily calibration and quality control procedures.
· Maintain laboratory registers, reports, and quality records.
· Follow biomedical waste management guidelines.
· Use PPE and maintain infection control practices.
· Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, and other departments.
· Attend departmental meetings, trainings, and competency assessments.
4. Qualification & Experience
· DMLT / BMLT from a recognized institution.
· Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a hospital laboratory preferred.
5. Required Skills
· Knowledge of laboratory procedures and quality control.
· Basic computer and LIS knowledge.
· Good communication and documentation skills.
· Knowledge of NABH standards and biomedical waste management.

7. Duties & Responsibilities under NABH
· Adhere to NABH standards, SOPs, and hospital policies.
· Participate in quality improvement activities.
· Maintain patient confidentiality and safety.
· Participate in internal audits, trainings, and mock drills.
8. Working Conditions
· Rotational shifts including night duties.
· Exposure to biological specimens and laboratory chemicals.
· Use of PPE mandatory during duty hours.
9. Authority
· Authorized to perform laboratory procedures assigned by the department.
· Authorized to report abnormal findings to seniors/pathologists immediately.
