Job Summary
The Radiology Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-rays and assisting with other radiological examinations while ensuring patient safety, image quality, radiation protection, and compliance with hospital protocols and NABH standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations as prescribed by the consulting physician or radiologist.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures by explaining the process and positioning them correctly.
- Ensure patient identity verification and obtain necessary consent where applicable.
- Operate radiographic equipment safely and efficiently to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Assist radiologists during specialized imaging procedures when required.
- Monitor patients during procedures and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and dignity throughout the examination.
Equipment Management
- Perform daily operational checks of X-ray machines and imaging equipment.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly to the Biomedical Engineering department.
- Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and maintenance of imaging equipment.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and calibration schedules.
Radiation Safety
- Follow all radiation safety protocols and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
- Ensure the use of lead aprons, thyroid shields, and other protective devices.
- Maintain radiation exposure records as required.
- Ensure compliance with AERB guidelines and hospital radiation safety policies.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate patient records and imaging logs.
- Upload and archive images in the Hospital Information System (HIS) and PACS.
- Maintain equipment maintenance logs and quality assurance records.
- Report incidents and adverse events as per hospital policy.
Infection Control & Quality
- Follow infection prevention and control protocols during all procedures.
- Ensure proper cleaning and disinfection of imaging equipment.
- Adhere to biomedical waste management guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with NABH quality and safety standards.
Qualification
- Diploma in Radiology Technology (DRT) / Diploma in X-Ray Technology or
- B.Sc. in Radiology & Imaging Technology / Medical Imaging Technology from a recognized institute.
Experience
- 0–2 years: Junior Radiology Technician (Freshers may be considered).
- 2–5 years: Experience in a multi-specialty hospital or diagnostic center preferred.
- Experience in Digital Radiography (DR), Computed Radiography (CR), and portable X-ray systems will be an added advantage.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of radiographic techniques and patient positioning.
- Proficiency in operating X-ray and digital imaging equipment.
- Understanding of radiation protection and AERB guidelines.
- Familiarity with HIS, RIS, and PACS systems.
- Good communication and patient-handling skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to image quality.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.

- Accuracy and quality of diagnostic images.
- Compliance with radiation safety and infection control protocols.
- Timely completion of imaging procedures.
- Equipment uptime and maintenance compliance.
- Accuracy of documentation and image archiving.

Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including weekends, night shifts, and public holidays.
- On-call duties for emergency imaging services.
- Exposure to radiation; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and radiation monitoring devices must be used at all times.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
