Position: Design Engineer
1. Job Summary
The Design Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed designs, technical drawings, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and project-related documentation for aluminium doors, windows, partitions, and related systems.
The Design Engineer shall work closely with the Sales, Project, Production/Fabrication, Purchase, and Installation Teams to ensure that all designs are technically accurate, practically executable, and aligned with approved quotations, customer requirements, site conditions, and project specifications.
The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, proficiency in relevant design software, timely completion of assigned work, proper documentation, and effective coordination with internal departments.
2. Main Responsibilities
A. Design & Drawing Preparation
- Prepare detailed designs and technical drawings for aluminium doors, windows, partitions, and related systems.
- Prepare shop drawings, fabrication drawings, installation drawings, elevations, sections, and other technical drawings as required.
- Prepare designs based on approved quotations, architectural drawings, site measurements, and customer requirements.
- Ensure accurate dimensions, profile specifications, glass specifications, hardware, accessories, and other technical details are included in the drawings.
- Review all drawings carefully before submitting or releasing them for fabrication and installation.
- Make necessary revisions and modifications based on approved changes, site conditions, or management instructions.
- Ensure drawings are clear, practical, and suitable for execution.
B. Site Measurement & Verification
- Review site measurements received from the Project/Site Team.
- Verify dimensions and technical information before preparing final drawings.
- Identify discrepancies between site conditions, measurements, and approved drawings.
- Coordinate with the concerned team to clarify measurement or technical issues.
- Visit project sites when required for measurement, inspection, or technical verification.
- Ensure final drawings reflect actual site conditions.
C. Material & Quantity Planning
- Prepare profile, glass, hardware, accessories, and other material requirements based on approved designs.
- Prepare accurate material calculations and project-wise requirements.
- Coordinate with the Purchase and Project Teams regarding material specifications and requirements.
- Ensure material requirements are based on approved drawings and project specifications.
- Optimize material usage and minimize unnecessary material wastage.
- Inform the concerned department of any technical or material requirements that may affect project execution.
D. Department Coordination
- Coordinate with the Sales Team to understand approved customer requirements and specifications.
- Coordinate with the Project Team regarding site conditions, measurements, execution requirements, and design changes.
- Coordinate with the Production/Fabrication Team to ensure drawings are suitable for fabrication.
- Coordinate with the Installation Team regarding installation requirements and technical details.
- Coordinate with the Purchase Department regarding required profiles, glass, hardware, and accessories.
- Communicate design changes, revisions, and technical instructions to the concerned departments without delay.
E. Technical Support
- Provide technical clarification to Production, Project, and Installation Teams.
- Assist in resolving design-related issues during fabrication and installation.
- Provide practical technical solutions for site and project-related problems.
- Suggest suitable and cost-effective design alternatives where required.
- Support the Project Team during installation and execution when technical assistance is required.
- Escalate major technical issues to the concerned manager or management.
F. Quality & Accuracy
- Ensure drawings and designs are accurate and comply with approved project requirements.
- Check dimensions, calculations, specifications, and quantities before final submission.
- Minimize errors, rework, and unnecessary revisions caused by design inaccuracies.
- Ensure only approved and updated drawings are issued for fabrication and installation.
- Follow company standards and technical procedures while preparing designs.
- Support the team in maintaining required quality standards throughout project execution.
G. Documentation & Revision Control
- Maintain proper project-wise records of drawings and technical documents.
- Maintain revision control for all drawings.
- Clearly identify revised drawings and communicate changes to the concerned departments.
- Ensure the latest approved drawing is available for fabrication and installation.
- Maintain proper records of approved drawings, revised drawings, measurements, and technical details.
- Submit required design reports and updates within the specified timeline.
3. CRM / Software / Data Responsibilities
- Maintain all required project and design information in the company's designated software/system.
- Ensure drawings, revisions, measurements, material details, and other required information are properly recorded.
- Maintain organized project-wise digital files and folders.
- Ensure files are named and stored according to company procedures.
- Update project information promptly whenever changes are approved.
- Maintain confidentiality of company, customer, project, and technical information.
4. Reporting & Communication
- Provide regular updates on assigned design work and project status.
- Inform the reporting manager about pending drawings, technical issues, site discrepancies, or delays.
- Submit drawings and technical documents within the assigned deadlines.
- Communicate design changes to all relevant departments promptly.
- Attend project review meetings, departmental meetings, and technical discussions as required.
- Maintain professional communication with internal departments, customers, vendors, and other stakeholders when required.
5. Performance & Responsibility Standards
The Design Engineer is expected to:
- Complete assigned drawings and design work within the given timeline.
- Maintain high accuracy in drawings, dimensions, calculations, and material requirements.
- Minimize design errors, rework, and unnecessary revisions.
- Follow approved project specifications and company standards.
- Maintain proper documentation and revision control.
- Coordinate effectively with all concerned departments.
- Respond promptly to technical queries and project requirements.
- Take responsibility for assigned design work from initial requirement through project execution.
- Maintain professional conduct and follow company policies and procedures.

- Proper recording and communication of drawing revisions.

- Effective coordination with Sales, Project, Production, Purchase, and Installation Teams.

- Timely resolution and support for design-related project issues.
- Documentation
- Proper maintenance of project drawings, files, records, and technical documents.

- Contribution towards smooth fabrication, installation, and timely project completion.
7. Required Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant design software.
- Good understanding of aluminium doors and windows systems.
- Knowledge of aluminium profiles, glass, hardware, accessories, and installation methods.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and technical drawings.
- Good understanding of measurements and technical calculations.

8. Qualification & Experience
Educational Qualification:
- Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field.
Experience:
- Experience in aluminium doors and windows, façade, glazing, fabrication, architectural design, or a related industry is preferred.
- Candidates with relevant technical knowledge and AutoCAD proficiency may also be considered based on company requirements.

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
