About the Role
We are looking for a responsible and energetic Assistant Café Manager to support the daily operations of our café. The candidate will assist in managing café hygiene, customer service, staff coordination, inventory, billing, food preparation standards, and overall store operations. The role requires strong ownership, discipline, customer-handling skills, and the ability to maintain smooth café functioning during operating hours.
Key Responsibilities1. Café Operations Management
- Assist the Café Manager in handling day-to-day café operations.
- Ensure smooth opening and closing of the café as per SOP.
- Monitor café counters, display areas, preparation stations, and customer seating areas.
- Maintain operational readiness during peak hours.
2. Customer Service
- Greet and assist customers in a polite and professional manner.
- Handle customer queries, feedback, and complaints effectively.
- Ensure quick service, proper product explanation, and a positive customer experience.
- Support upselling and cross-selling of café and grocery products.
3. Food & Beverage Preparation
- Supervise preparation of café items such as beverages, juices, salads, bowls, and snacks as per company standards.
- Ensure proper portioning, taste consistency, presentation, and hygiene.
- Check freshness of fruits, vegetables, ingredients, and prepared items.
- Ensure expired or poor-quality ingredients are not used.
4. Hygiene & Cleanliness
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across café counters, kitchen area, equipment, shelves, and storage spaces.
- Ensure daily cleaning of juicers, mixers, shakers, utensils, chopping boards, knives, trays, and workstations.
- Ensure team members follow hygiene practices including gloves, caps, clean uniforms, and proper food handling.
5. Inventory & Stock Management
- Track café raw materials, packaging material, consumables, and finished products.
- Assist in placing indents and maintaining minimum stock levels.
- Monitor wastage, expiry, and daily consumption.
- Report shortages, damages, and slow-moving items to the Café Manager.
6. Team Supervision
- Support in managing café staff, helpers, and service team.
- Allocate daily tasks to team members.
- Ensure staff punctuality, grooming, discipline, and performance.
- Train team members on café SOPs, customer service, hygiene, and product knowledge.
7. Billing & POS Handling
- Handle billing through POS system when required.
- Ensure accurate billing, cash handling, and payment collection.
- Support in daily sales closing, cash reconciliation, and reporting.
8. Reporting & Coordination
- Prepare and share daily sales, stock, wastage, and closing reports.
- Coordinate with the Store Manager, Café Manager, and Head Office team.
- Report operational issues, customer complaints, equipment problems, and maintenance requirements on time.
9. Equipment Handling
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of café equipment such as juicer, mixer, blender, refrigerator, freezer, induction, Bain Marie, and other kitchen tools.
- Report breakdowns immediately and follow safety protocols.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in café, restaurant, QSR, food retail, or hospitality operations preferred.
- Good customer-handling and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, hygiene, and kitchen operations.
- Ability to manage staff and daily café activities.
- Basic computer/POS billing knowledge.
- Strong sense of responsibility, discipline, and cleanliness.
- Ability to work during peak hours and handle pressure.
- Pleasant personality and professional grooming.
Preferred Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in café, food retail, restaurant, QSR, or hospitality industry.
- Experience in managing juices, salads, beverages, snacks, or fresh food counters will be an added advantage.
