Job Summary
A Labour Room Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. The nurse collaborates with obstetricians, anesthetists, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe maternal and neonatal outcomes while maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and infection control.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout labor.
- Prepare the labour room and ensure all equipment and emergency supplies are available and functional.
- Assist obstetricians during normal and assisted deliveries.
- Monitor labor progress using clinical assessment and partograph documentation.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and injections as prescribed.
- Maintain accurate nursing records and documentation.
- Provide emotional support and education to mothers and their families.
- Prepare newborns for immediate post-delivery care and assist with neonatal resuscitation when required.
- Promote early skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding initiation.
- Observe mothers for postpartum complications and provide appropriate nursing care.
- Follow infection prevention and control protocols.
- Ensure proper sterilization and handling of instruments and supplies.
- Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies such as postpartum hemorrhage, eclampsia, or fetal distress.
- Coordinate patient transfers to the operating theatre, postnatal ward, or neonatal intensive care unit when necessary.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, clinical audits, and continuing nursing education.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma, B.Sc., or GNM in Nursing Or ANM

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
