Role Overview
We are looking for a builder-first, hands-on Senior AI Engineer and Architect to construct the intelligent infrastructure powering the next generation of news systems.
You will own the technical AI roadmap end to end — evaluating build-vs-buy API integrations, designing scalable code architectures, and establishing the safety framework for AI systems.
Over time, you will also have the opportunity to build and grow a focused AI engineering team.
Key ResponsibilitiesAI Search Indexation & Attribution
- Build structured data architecture and content feeds designed for modern LLM-driven search.
- Develop licensing-aware crawl configurations.
- Improve content placement and attribution across platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Mode.
AI-Assisted Newsroom Tooling
- Design reliable AI-powered editorial workflows for:
- Automated drafting
- Summarization
- Metadata tagging
- Content localization
- Build systems capable of handling dialectal and linguistic variations across the Hindi belt.
Personalization Engine
- Architect an advanced next-article recommendation system.
- Build application content-stream algorithms focused on increasing session depth and user duration.
- Develop and improve personalization signals and recommendation logic.
AI Safety & Risk Mitigation
- Establish technical safeguards for AI-powered publishing systems.
- Identify and reject implementations that create trust, quality, or SEO risks.
- Prevent large-scale generation of thin or low-quality AI content.
- Design systems that minimize hallucination and maintain high content-quality standards.
Experience & Scale Requirements
- Proven experience shipping production-grade ML/AI infrastructure, not just prototypes or research projects.
- Experience operating systems processing millions of API requests per day under strict cost and latency requirements.
- Hands-on experience with Hindi/Indic NLP systems, or demonstrated ability to work with low-resource language training and evaluation metrics.
- Experience working with AI models in publishing, content, search, or other quality-sensitive environments.
- Strong software architecture and engineering skills.
- Experience evaluating AI APIs and making practical build-vs-buy decisions.
- Strong understanding of the operational, quality, trust, and SEO implications of generative AI.
Critical Disqualifiers
This role is not a fit for candidates who:
- Have a purely academic or theoretical AI research background without significant production deployment experience.
- Have not shipped and operated production AI/ML systems at scale.
- View maximizing AI-generated content volume as an unqualified success metric.
- Lack awareness of hallucination, trust, content-quality, and SEO risks in high-authority publishing.
- Have little or no interest in vernacular-language and low-resource NLP challenges.
- Apply standard English-centric NLP approaches without considering Hindi/Indic linguistic realities.
