Job Overview
AST Outsource is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Drayage Dispatcher to join our growing logistics team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing container movements, coordinating drivers, scheduling terminal and rail appointments, and ensuring seamless execution of drayage operations for US-based customers.
Immediate Joiners and Candidates with Relevant Drayage Experience are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispatch and coordinate drivers for container pickups and deliveries.
- Schedule and manage port, terminal, and rail appointments.
- Monitor container availability, free time, detention, and demurrage to minimize costs.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, steamship lines, terminals, warehouses, and customs brokers.
- Track shipment status and provide accurate updates to customers.
- Resolve operational issues, delays, appointment conflicts, and service exceptions.
- Maintain accurate dispatch records, load information, and operational reports.
- Optimize driver utilization, routing, and equipment allocation.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, operational procedures, and service standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 1–3+ years of experience in US Drayage Dispatching.
- Strong understanding of port operations, rail operations, container logistics, and drayage workflows.
- Knowledge of detention, demurrage, chassis management, and terminal appointment systems.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), dispatch software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced logistics environment.
