The General Manager is responsible for the overall management and smooth functioning of the ice cream manufacturing facility. The role involves overseeing production planning, inventory management, hygiene and cleanliness standards, dispatch operations, workforce management, administration, documentation, billing coordination, and facility maintenance. The General Manager ensures that production targets are achieved efficiently while maintaining quality, food safety, and operational compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Scheduling
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on sales forecasts and order requirements.
- Coordinate with procurement, production, and dispatch teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Monitor production efficiency and optimize manpower utilization.
- Ensure production targets are achieved within planned timelines.
- Minimize wastage and improve production productivity.
2. Inventory Management
- Monitor raw material, packaging material, semi-finished goods, and finished goods inventory.
- Ensure accurate inventory records in ERP/software.
- Conduct regular physical stock verification.
- Maintain minimum and maximum stock levels.
- Investigate and report stock variances.
- Coordinate timely procurement requests to avoid stock shortages.
3. Factory Cleanliness & Hygiene
- Ensure strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Monitor daily cleaning schedules for production, storage, and common areas.
- Conduct routine hygiene audits.
- Ensure proper pest control and waste disposal practices.
- Maintain readiness for FSSAI and internal audits.
4. Workforce Management
- Manage attendance, shift allocation, and leave records of factory staff.
- Ensure adequate manpower availability for production requirements.
- Maintain employee documentation and personnel records.
- Coordinate onboarding of new workers.
- Monitor worker discipline and productivity.
- Conduct regular staff briefings and training sessions.
5. Administration & Documentation
- Maintain all factory records and documentation.
- Ensure proper filing of production, inventory, maintenance, and compliance records.
- Maintain contractor and vendor documentation.
- Manage office administration activities.
- Coordinate with HR and Accounts departments as required.
6. Billing & Accounts Coordination
- Verify inward and outward material records.
- Coordinate billing and invoicing processes.
- Ensure proper documentation for purchases and dispatches.
- Maintain records of supplier invoices and delivery challans.
- Assist management in tracking operational expenses.
7. Dispatch & Logistics Management
- Plan and monitor dispatch schedules.
- Ensure timely delivery of products to retail outlets, distributors, and franchise locations.
- Verify dispatch documentation and stock movement records.
- Coordinate vehicle scheduling and route planning.
- Monitor dispatch accuracy and minimize delivery errors.
8. Property & Asset Maintenance
- Ensure proper upkeep of factory premises, machinery, equipment, cold rooms, and utilities.
- Monitor preventive maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance activities.
- Maintain records of equipment servicing.
- Ensure safe working conditions throughout the facility.
9. Compliance & Quality Control
- Ensure adherence to FSSAI, GMP, SOPs, and company standards.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Ensure all production and operational records are maintained accurately.
- Monitor compliance with health and safety requirements.
10. Reporting & MIS
- Prepare daily operational reports.
- Submit production, inventory, dispatch, and attendance reports to management.
- Analyze operational performance and recommend improvements.
- Monitor key operational KPIs and factory efficiency metrics.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Operations, Manufacturing, Food Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
- Additional certifications in Food Safety, Production Management, or Operations Management will be preferred.
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing operations.
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in food manufacturing, dairy, ice cream, FMCG, or related industries preferred.
