We’re looking for a collaborative and curious Lead Software Engineer to join our development team at NetApp Instaclustr (www.instaclustr.com).
Our mission at NetApp Instaclustr (www.instaclustr.com) is to make it easy for customers around the globe to run powerful open-source applications at scale - like Cassandra, Kafka, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Cadence, and ClickHouse, across both on-premises data-centres and in the cloud.
The NetApp Instaclustr development team is responsible for building, maintaining and operating the platform that allows us to provision and reliably keep thousands of distributed application servers running worldwide.
8 or more years of commercial experience regularly delivering quality software and overcoming technical challenges.
Demonstrated experience with leading people.
Proficiency in Java, SQL and at least one other modern programming language - and openness to learning more.
Strong communication skills and a humble and collaborative nature - essential for working harmoniously with multiple teams.
A curious mindset with a keen interest in how your work will positively impact customers.
Eagerness to tackle new challenges and continuously grow you and your team’s software engineering skills.
Working with a wide range of technologies and tools, such as: Java, SQL, Python, Typescript, Rust, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Debian, and more.
Working with major cloud providers. Our systems run on AWS, Azure and GCP.
Responsibilities
Lead one of the teams of 5-10 engineers that makes up our product development team. You can expect that some of your time will be spent helping your team head in the right direction, and some will be spent being hands-on with our technology and systems and doing your own development tasks.
Take end to end ownership of one or more aspects of our managed platform, which takes care of the whole lifecycle: provisioning infrastructure, installing applications and, most importantly, keeping the applications running reliably in production.
Work with a Product Manager to set team priorities, and work with a senior software engineering manager to plan and manage the work of your team.
Develop the skills and careers of the engineers in your team.
Work with other Lead Software Engineers to support each other in developing complex solutions or agreeing on the best approach to solve problems which affect everyone. DevOps best practices as part of a global team that operates 24x7. This may include participating in on-call support roles to assist in keeping our management platform running smoothly.
