Position Summary
The Manager/ Asst Manager/Sr. Manager – Book Keeping & Accounts - Accounts & Book keeping will own the accounting, compliance, billing and receivables function for a manufacturing organization with mixed B2B, B2C and B2G revenue streams. The role is responsible for accurate books of accounts, timely statutory compliance, robust internal controls, and dependable MIS to support management decision-making, while managing the distinct billing, documentation and collection cycles of each customer segment - particularly the tender-driven, e-invoicing and TDS/TCS-heavy requirements of government billing.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Maintain the general ledger, fixed asset register, inventory valuation and cost accounting records for the manufacturing units.
- Ensure the ERP (SAP/equivalent) reflects accurate cost centers, profit centers and product-wise profitability.
Billing & Revenue Across Channels
- Oversee B2B billing: purchase order matching, credit terms, e-invoicing and e-way bill compliance.
- Oversee B2C billing: retail/dealer invoicing, POS or distributor reconciliations, and returns/credit notes.
- Oversee B2G billing: tender terms, GeM/portal invoicing, milestone or supply-order-linked billing, security deposit and performance bank guarantee tracking, and government TDS/TCS compliance.
- Ensure each channel's documentation meets the specific requirements of GST, contract terms and customer acknowledgement.
Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate GST returns (GSTR-1, 3B, 9/9C), reconciliation with books and vendor 2B, and refund claims where applicable (including export-linked refunds).
- Ensure TDS/TCS compliance, including government-deducted TDS reconciliation and certificate follow-up.
- Coordinate direct tax compliance - advance tax, income tax returns, transfer pricing (if applicable) and tax audit.
- Handle GST/income tax assessments, notices and departmental queries, liaising with consultants as needed.
Costing, Budgeting & MIS
- Drive annual budgeting and periodic forecasting across plants/products.
- Maintain product/plant-wise costing, standard vs actual variance analysis, and margin reporting by channel (B2B/B2C/B2G).
- Provide decision support on pricing, tender bids and customer profitability.
Audit & Internal Controls
- Be the primary point of contact for statutory auditors, internal auditors, tax auditors and, where applicable, cost auditors.
- Design and monitor internal financial controls (IFC) over billing, inventory, procurement and cash/bank.
- Drive closure of audit observations and strengthen SOPs across the accounts function.
Systems & Team Leadership
- Own the accounts modules of the ERP; work with IT/consultants on process improvements and automation.
- Lead, mentor and build capability within the accounts, billing and credit control team.
- Coordinate with sales, SCM, plant and legal teams on contract terms, tender conditions and dispute resolution.
Candidate Profile
Qualification
- Qualified CMA Or Intermediate Chartered Accountant (CA) with 5-6 years of experience is preferred; Candidate with strong manufacturing accounting exposure will also be considered.
Experience
- 1-2 years of progressive accounts/finance experience, preferably in manufacturing organization.
- Demonstrated experience handling mixed B2B/B2C/B2G billing and collections, including government tender/contract billing.
- Hands-on exposure to an ERP environment (SAP preferred) covering FI/CO, sales and inventory modules.
Key Skills
- Strong command of GST, TDS/TCS and Companies Act compliance.
- Costing and manufacturing accounting (standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation).
- Working capital and credit control management across differentiated customer segments.
- Team leadership, stakeholder management and audit handling.
- High attention to detail with the ability to work to closing timelines.
Key Performance Indicators
- Timeliness and accuracy of monthly/annual closing and MIS.
- Statutory compliance record (nil/minimal notices, timely filings).
- Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) by channel and reduction in overdue receivables.
- Audit observations closed within agreed timelines.
