Applications are invited from suitable candidates for Project Associate-I (PAT-I) to work on CSIR FTT Project under EES theme of CSMCRI titled “Innovative Hydrodynamic and Sediment Management Solutions for Sustainable Solar Salt Industry of Gujarat State in the Face of Climate Change for reducing the risk to the surrounding community and innovative coastal infrastructure for solar salt works”
Essential Qualifications:
PAT-I: Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
Desirable Qualification, experience:
Preference will be given to the candidate with specialization in Water Resources Engineering / Hydraulic Engineering / Hydrological Engineering / Coastal Engineering / Remote sensing/ GIS / Wave current modelling/ Shoreline Morphology studies and who have sound knowledge of basic fluid dynamic, Fluvial hydraulics, Sediment transport modelling, Morpho-dynamic studies of river and sea creek, open channel flow, water resources models and worked on similar project on designing and modelling of flood inundation, sediment transport and morpho-dynamics, shoreline morphology, wave current modelling, mapping of saline land in Arc GIS and flood predictions and inundation mapping, wave current modelling using MIKE 11, MIKE 21, MIKE+ ST, SW, FMST, FMMT and FMHD HD, Marine PP modules and HEC-RAS software, numerical modelling. Knowledge of modelling in water resources are desirable. She/he will also be required to travel for field site of salt works for data collection. Knowledge of ArcGIS and Remote sensing techniques would be added advantage.
Job Description:
Job description involves the Sediment Models to predict erosion, deposition, and scouring in salt works creeks to support environmental management, specifically for Solar Salt Industry, site specific solution with validated mitigation measures. The modelling on wave–current interaction, sediment transport (mud and sand), and shoreline morphology analysis to simulate tidal flows, flooding, erosion, and sediment deposition in solar salt works located in macro-tidal coastal environment to be developed to develop high-resolution, site-specific 2D/3D hydrodynamic models for solar salt works using Arc GIS, MIKE+ and HEC-RAS modules. The infrastructure planning for providing sustainable protection structures for Model Salt Farm of CSMCRI, Large coastal Salt Industry of Gujarat and India, solution for Salt & Chlor-alkali Industry, bridge protection to ensure infrastructure resilience based on model outcome to enhance sustainability, productivity, and resilience of the solar salt industry while reducing risks to surrounding coastal communities and salt-farming livelihoods. Use of ArcGIS and Remote Sensing for the Flood-inundation, 2D mapping and Sediment transport modelling with satellite-derived SSC. Providing designing in AutoCAD for preventive infrastructure planning for Solar Salt works, Bridge pier structure, road towards intake house of pumping station from model outcome. The role includes field data collection for modelling from Govt. agency, GoG, CWC, NRSCISRO, BISAG, Salt Works of India, Model Salt farm (CI-STARS) of CSMCRI. The candidate will be required to travel for field data collection and Modelling for the outcome.
