Job Summary
Highly skilled Datadog Observability Engineer with strong expertise in observability, application performance monitoring (APM), log management, and infrastructure monitoring across hybrid and cloud-native environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing Datadog-based monitoring solutions for large-scale enterprise systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. This role requires deep technical proficiency in Datadog platform capabilities, including APM, Infrastructure Monitoring, Log Management, Synthetic Monitoring, and Real User Monitoring (RUM). The candidate should also have strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and integration with CI/CD pipelines. The engineer will play a key role in standardizing observability practices, developing custom dashboards and alerts, implementing APM,FSO, RUM, databases, AI & ML based events and alerts, Implementing Integrations and enabling proactive incident detection and resolution. Collaboration with applications, platforms, and security teams is essential to improve operational visibility, reduce MTTR, and enhance overall SRE and Datadog maturity
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain Datadog monitoring solutions for applications, infrastructure, and services across multi-cloud and hybrid environments. • Configure and manage Datadog APM, Infrastructure Monitoring, Log Management, and Synthetic Monitoring for critical workloads. • Develop custom dashboards, monitors, and alerts to provide actionable insights and proactive incident detection. • Implement monitoring-as-code using Terraform or equivalent tools to ensure repeatable and scalable deployments. • Integrate Datadog with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Azure DevOps, Jenkins) for automated monitoring setup during deployments. • Enable distributed tracing and service maps for microservices-based architectures. • Collaborate with application and platform teams to define SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs and implement error budgets for reliability engineering. • Optimize log ingestion and retention policies, ensuring compliance and cost efficiency. • Implement security and compliance monitoring using Datadog Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) and related features. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex monitoring issues, including data ingestion failures, alert misconfigurations, and integration challenges. • Maintain comprehensive documentation for monitoring configurations, dashboards, and operational procedures. • Design and implement robust integrations between Datadog and ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow) as well as third-party tools to enable automated incident creation, real-time alerting, and seamless workflow orchestration.
