Job Summary
The Design cum Programming Engineer is responsible for product design, 3D modeling, drafting, manufacturing documentation, and CNC laser cutting programming for sheet metal components and assemblies. The role requires strong proficiency in SolidWorks, including Sheet Metal, Weldments, and 3D design modules, along with a practical understanding of manufacturing processes, tolerances, fabrication methods, and industry standards.
The engineer will convert customer requirements, sketches, and concepts into production-ready designs and machine programs while ensuring manufacturability, accuracy, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
Create detailed 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
Develop sheet metal components using SolidWorks Sheet Metal tools.
Design fabricated structures using SolidWorks Weldments.
Prepare complete manufacturing drawings with dimensions, tolerances, and technical specifications.
Generate BOMs (Bill of Materials) and production documentation.
Review customer drawings and specifications for manufacturability.
Optimize designs for efficient manufacturing, assembly, and cost reduction.
Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and customer requirements.
Drafting & Documentation
Prepare detailed fabrication and assembly drawings.
Create flat patterns for sheet metal components and Generate DXF/DWG files for manufacturing processes.
Prepare inspection and quality-related documentation as required.
CNC Laser Programming
Generate machine-ready programs for CNC laser cutting machines.
Create nesting layouts to maximize material utilization and minimize scrap.
Verify program accuracy before production release.
Support machine operators during setup and production runs.
Troubleshoot programming and cutting-related issues.
Manufacturing Support
Coordinate with production, quality, and planning departments.
Provide technical support during fabrication and assembly.
Monitor production feedback and implement design improvements.
Assist in process development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support prototype development and new product introduction activities.
Quality & Standards
Apply appropriate GD&T principles and engineering tolerances.
Ensure designs comply with manufacturing capabilities and market standards.
Understand and apply sheet metal design standards, bend allowances, K-factors, and tolerance requirements.
Maintain accuracy of drawings and manufacturing data.
Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and company procedures.
Required Technical Skills
SolidWorks Proficiency, SolidWorks Sheet Metal, SolidWorks Weldments, SolidWorks Drawings & Drafting, Manufacturing Knowledge, Sheet metal fabrication processes, Welding and fabrication practices
Qualifications
Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field. Professional certification in SolidWorks will be an added advantage.
Experience Requirements
1-2 years of experience in SolidWorks Modelling & sheet metal design.
Hands-on experience with SolidWorks Sheet Metal and Weldments.
Experience in CNC laser cutting environment.
Experience in manufacturing and fabrication industries preferred.
Practical exposure to production processes and shop-floor coordination

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
