Experience: 3-5 years in electrical and plumbing work, preferably in a hospital or large facility.

Duties and Responsibilities of an Electrician Cum Plumber in a Hospital
1. Electrical Maintenance
- Ensure the hospital's electrical systems are functioning properly, including wiring, lighting, switches, and outlets.
- Inspect and repair electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, inverters, and other backup systems.
- Handle power supply issues during outages and emergencies, ensuring uninterrupted electrical services for critical areas like operation theatres, ICUs, and other patient care zones.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance of electrical systems and report potential issues.
- Install and maintain electrical appliances and equipment as per safety protocols.
2. Plumbing Maintenance
- Ensure the hospital's plumbing systems, including water supply, sewage, and drainage systems, are functioning without interruptions.
- Repair and replace faulty pipes, faucets, valves, and other plumbing fixtures as required.
- Maintain and service hospital water systems, including pumps, tanks, and filtration systems.
- Manage any water leakages or blockages swiftly to avoid disruption to hospital operations.
- Ensure the proper functioning of toilets, wash basins, and other sanitation fixtures.
3. Compliance and Safety
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, including fire safety, electrical safety, and water safety regulations.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes and safety standards for both electrical and plumbing systems.
- Perform risk assessments before performing repairs or installations, especially in sensitive hospital areas.
4. Coordination with Other Departments
- Collaborate with the engineering and maintenance teams to coordinate repairs or maintenance work that may affect other departments.
- Respond quickly to maintenance requests from different hospital units, especially in case of emergencies.
- Coordinate with external contractors for large-scale repairs or installations when needed.
5. Preventive Maintenance
- Conduct regular inspections of the hospital’s electrical and plumbing systems to detect any issues early and perform necessary maintenance.
- Maintain records of repairs and servicing to track the condition and longevity of equipment and systems.
- Develop maintenance schedules to ensure critical infrastructure is always operational.
6. Emergency Response
- Be available for emergency repairs during shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Attend to electrical and plumbing emergencies immediately, especially during natural disasters or hospital crises.
7. Inventory Management
- Keep track of all tools, spare parts, and equipment required for maintenance.
- Ensure that critical components are stocked and available for quick replacements during repairs.
8. Energy and Water Efficiency
- Propose and implement energy-saving and water-conservation measures to help the hospital operate efficiently.
- Regularly assess the hospital's electrical and plumbing systems for any inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
9. Documentation and Reporting
- Keep detailed logs of maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections.
- Report to the maintenance or engineering head regarding the status of ongoing projects and any urgent requirements.
