Job Description (JD) – Cashier (Jewellery Shop)
Position : Cashier
Department : Accounts / Sales Operations
Reporting To : Store Manager
Job Summary :
The Cashier is responsible for handling customer billing, cash and digital transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing excellent customer service in the jewellery showroom. The role requires accuracy, honesty, and attention to detail while managing high-value transactions.
Key ResponsibilitiesBilling & Transactions
- Generate invoices and bills for jewellery sales.
- Receive payments through cash, card, UPI, bank transfer, and other digital modes.
- Verify customer payment details and transaction accuracy.
- Process refunds, exchanges, and adjustments as per company policy.
Cash Management
- Maintain daily cash balance and cash register.
- Ensure proper handling and safekeeping of cash and receipts.
- Prepare daily cash collection reports and submit them to management.
- Reconcile cash, card, and digital payments at the end of each shift.
Documentation & Records
- Maintain sales records, invoices, and payment receipts.
- Update customer details in the billing system.
- Assist in maintaining GST-related billing records and other statutory documents.
- Support accounts and audit requirements as needed.
Customer Service
- Greet customers professionally and assist with billing-related queries.
- Ensure a smooth and efficient checkout process.
- Coordinate with sales staff for order completion and customer satisfaction.
Compliance & Security
- Follow company policies regarding cash handling and financial transactions.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and customer information.
- Report discrepancies or suspicious transactions immediately.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate or Intermediate .
- 1–3 years of experience as a Cashier, preferably in a jewellery showroom, retail store, or luxury retail environment.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and GST billing.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and billing software.
Skills Required
- Strong numerical and calculation skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of POS systems and digital payment platforms.
- Honest, trustworthy, and responsible attitude.
