Job Summary
The Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining lathe machines to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and quality standards. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to produce high-quality work within production deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate conventional or CNC lathe machines.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machine settings.
- Measure finished components using precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Inspect parts to ensure they meet dimensional and quality specifications.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment in good working condition.
- Identify and report machine malfunctions or production issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following company safety standards.
- Record production data and complete required documentation.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, quality inspectors, and other production staff to meet production targets.
