The Accounts Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial and accounting operations within the firm. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, effective record management, and supports strategic financial planning to enhance the company's financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and present accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction or revenue enhancement.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop annual budgets in collaboration with department heads.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and provide variance analysis to management.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:
- Oversee the processing of supplier invoices, ensuring timely payments and accurate record-keeping.
- Manage customer invoicing, collections, and maintain accurate accounts receivable records.
- Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing audit findings.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Assign tasks, set performance goals, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
- Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
- Implement strategies to optimize working capital and manage debt levels.
- Financial Systems Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of accounting software and financial systems.
- Ensure data integrity and security within financial systems.
Authority:
- Approve expenditures within designated limits and ensure alignment with budgetary constraints.
- Authorize financial transactions and journal entries in accordance with company policies.
- Recommend improvements to financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
General Management:
- Participate in strategic planning sessions to align financial goals with overall business objectives.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies in all financial activities.
Record Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the organization and storage of financial documents, ensuring easy retrieval and confidentiality.
- Implement and monitor record retention policies to comply with statutory obligations.
