Housekeeper / Homestay Caretaker – Roles & Responsibilities
1. Guest Preparation
- Clean and sanitize rooms before every check-in.
- Make beds with fresh linens.
- Replace towels, toiletries, and drinking water.
- Ensure the room is neat, welcoming, and ready before guest arrival.
2. Daily Housekeeping
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all guest and common areas.
- Clean bathrooms thoroughly.
- Empty dustbins and replace liners.
- Wash and iron bed linen, towels, and other laundry.
- Maintain cleanliness of balconies, patios, and outdoor seating areas.
3. Guest Assistance
- Welcome guests warmly (if required).
- Assist with luggage when needed.
- Respond politely to guest requests.
- Report guest complaints or maintenance issues promptly.
4. Property Maintenance
- Inspect rooms after checkout for damages or missing items.
- Report plumbing, electrical, or structural issues immediately.
- Monitor stock of cleaning supplies and toiletries.
- Ensure lights, fans, geysers, and appliances are switched off when not in use.
5. Kitchen & Dining Area
- Keep kitchen and dining areas clean and hygienic.
- Wash utensils and maintain cleanliness after meals.
- Refill drinking water and basic supplies.
6. Basic Staff Meal Preparation
- Prepare simple, hygienic, and nutritious meals for staff as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene while cooking.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food ingredients.
- Inform management when kitchen supplies or groceries need replenishment.
7. Laundry Management
- Wash, dry, fold, and store linens and towels.
- Separate damaged items for replacement.
- Maintain proper linen inventory.
8. Outdoor Areas
- Keep entrance, pathways, parking, and garden clean.
- Water plants if assigned.
- Remove leaves and litter from the property.
9. Safety & Security
- Lock doors and windows after cleaning.
- Monitor the property in the owner’s absence.
- Report suspicious activities immediately.
- Ensure fire safety equipment remains accessible.
10. Inventory & Supplies
- Track toiletries, cleaning products, linens, and consumables.
- Inform management before supplies run low.
- Handle property items responsibly and prevent wastage.
11. Professional Conduct
- Maintain honesty, punctuality, and confidentiality.
- Wear clean, appropriate clothing while on duty.
- Be respectful and courteous with guests and colleagues.
- Avoid smoking, drinking alcohol, or using intoxicants during working hours or on the property.
Desired Skills
- Good housekeeping and cleaning skills.
- Ability to cook basic, healthy staff meals.
- Basic communication in Hindi; English is an advantage.
- Friendly and guest-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work independently.
- Physically fit and able to lift and move housekeeping supplies.
- Basic understanding of hygiene and sanitation standards.
Typical Working Hours
- 8–10 hours per day (or as scheduled).
- 2 monthly offs or as per company policy.
- Flexibility to assist during guest check-ins, check-outs, and busy periods.
Performance Expectations
- Rooms prepared before scheduled check-in times.
- High standards of cleanliness maintained at all times.
- Positive guest feedback.
- Zero wastage of supplies.
- Prompt reporting of maintenance and operational issues.
Pay: ₹6,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
