About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer with hands-on experience in Special Purpose Machines (SPM), assembly automation systems, and process/testing machines. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in mechanical design using Autodesk Inventor and a solid understanding of manufacturing and automation technologies used in the automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and automation systems using Autodesk Inventor.
- Create detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and assembly drawings.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation including:
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Design calculations
- Test plans
- Technical specifications
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and apply GD&T principles effectively.
- Analyze and optimize designs for:
- Manufacturability
- Cost efficiency
- Reliability and performance
- Coordinate with manufacturing, assembly, procurement, and project teams during machine development.
- Support machine build, assembly, testing, and commissioning activities when required.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer specifications.
- Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (3D modeling and detailing)
- Strong knowledge of:
- GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Tolerance stack-up calculations
- Mechanical design fundamentals
- Understanding of:
- Manufacturing processes
- Materials selection
- Heat treatment and surface treatment
- Pneumatic and automation systems
- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and engineering practices.
Experience
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in design and development of:
- Special Purpose Machines (SPM)
- Assembly automation systems
- Process machines
- Testing and inspection machines
- Experience in automotive automation projects is preferred.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
