About the Role
The Public Policy Sr. Associate (Policy Programs) will look at policy challenges through a distinctly programmatic lens, moving beyond reactive advocacy to design and execute proactive, scaled public policy campaigns. You will be responsible for creating a continuous, high-impact "drumbeat" of strategic initiatives that cement trust and build a lasting reputation with government officials, regulators, and civil society stakeholders. This is a critical role aimed at positioning Uber as a gold-standard partner in India's urban mobility ecosystem.
What You'll Do
- Programmatic Campaign Architecture: Design, launch, and scale end-to-end policy programs and campaigns from the ground up, translating abstract policy risks and objectives into a structured, continuous drumbeat of tangible initiatives.
- Trust & Reputation Building: Execute high-visibility programs focusing on critical pillars like driver welfare, safety, urban mobility innovation, and economic empowerment to consistently build reputational equity with government and civil society.
- Stakeholder Alliance Management: Working closely with regional public policy teams, build long-term, trust-based coalitions with key external stakeholders, including central and state transport ministries, labor departments, academic think tanks, and non-profits, using programmatic milestones to keep them engaged.
- Cross-Functional Orchestration: Partner with Communications, Marketing, and Operations teams to ensure policy campaigns are amplified effectively, maintaining a unified external narrative while meeting strict local operational metrics.
- Impact Measurement: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for public affairs campaigns, tracking how programmatic initiatives actively move the needle on regulatory sentiment and brand trust among key opinion leaders.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience: 7-8 years of professional experience managing public policy programs, corporate affairs campaigns, or large-scale strategic initiatives within a fast-paced global company, prominent tech platform, or highly regulated industry in India.
- Programmatic Mindset: Proven track record of designing and running recurring, multi-stakeholder programs or public-facing campaigns.
- Strategic Communication: Exceptional ability to conceptualize and pitch campaign ideas internally, write compelling policy briefs, and create thought-leadership content that resonates with public officials.
- Execution & Mobility: Strong bias for action with a demonstrated ability to independently manage projects across a matrixed organization. Willingness to travel across key states and hubs to drive campaign execution on the ground.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Law, Business, or an equivalent field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in or closely with global mobility, logistics, or on-demand marketplace platforms.
- Deep existing networks within state departments and regulatory bodies. Familiarity with India's evolving gig-economy frameworks, new labor codes, and state-level transport/mobility regulations
Direct experience dealing with complex, highly sensitive stakeholder environments, including labor unions, gig-economy regulations, or localized collective bargaining groups.
