Job Description
We are looking for a hands-on Hardware & Systems Support Engineer with 2–3 years of relevant experience in desktop, hardware, operating system, network, peripheral, surveillance, and video conferencing support.
The candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving day-to-day IT infrastructure issues, maintaining end-user systems and peripherals, supporting network connectivity, deploying operating systems, and ensuring smooth operation of IT hardware across the organization.
The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, practical hardware knowledge, and the ability to independently identify and resolve technical issues within defined timelines.
Key ResponsibilitiesHardware Support & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve desktop, laptop, and workstation hardware issues.
- Troubleshoot and replace faulty components such as:
- Hard disks / SSDs
- RAM
- SMPS / power supplies
- Motherboards
- Network Interface Cards (NIC)
- Keyboards, mice, monitors, and other peripherals
- Perform hardware upgrades and component replacements.
- Troubleshoot system boot issues, hardware failures, overheating, and performance-related problems.
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware repairs, warranty claims, and replacement of defective equipment where required.
Operating System Deployment & Support
- Install, configure, and deploy Windows operating systems on desktops and laptops.
- Perform OS formatting, reinstallation, imaging, and system recovery.
- Install and configure device drivers, applications, patches, and updates.
- Troubleshoot Windows operating system errors, boot failures, driver issues, application problems, and system performance issues.
- Configure user profiles and standard desktop settings.
- Perform basic backup and restoration of user data during system replacement or OS deployment.
Network & Connectivity Support
- Troubleshoot LAN, Wi-Fi, and basic network connectivity issues.
- Diagnose network problems related to:
- Network cables
- LAN ports
- NIC cards
- IP configuration
- DNS
- DHCP
- Gateway connectivity
- Wi-Fi connectivity
- Perform basic network cable testing and connectivity checks.
- Assist in patching and connecting desktops, laptops, printers, cameras, and other network devices.
- Coordinate with the networking team for issues requiring higher-level troubleshooting.
Printer & Peripheral Support
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot:
- Local printers
- Network printers
- Multifunction printers
- Scanners
- Barcode or other business peripherals, where applicable
- Resolve printer driver, connectivity, paper handling, printing, and basic hardware issues.
- Configure network printers on user systems.
- Coordinate with printer vendors for major hardware repairs when required.
CCTV Camera & Surveillance Support
- Provide basic support for IP cameras, CCTV cameras, and related surveillance equipment.
- Troubleshoot camera connectivity, power, network, and basic hardware issues.
- Assist with installation, replacement, and configuration of cameras.
- Check camera availability and connectivity to NVR/DVR or monitoring systems.
- Coordinate with surveillance vendors for complex camera or recording-system issues.
Video Conferencing & Meeting Room Support
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot video conferencing equipment.
- Support meeting room equipment including:
- Conference cameras
- Microphones
- Speakers
- Display units
- Projectors
- HDMI / USB connectivity
- Video conferencing devices
- Provide support for online meeting platforms and conference room connectivity.
- Ensure meeting room equipment is functional before important meetings or conferences.
- Troubleshoot audio, video, display, camera, and connectivity-related issues.
IT Asset & Inventory Management
- Maintain records of desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, network devices, cameras, and other IT assets.
- Track hardware allocation, replacement, movement, and return.
- Maintain records of serial numbers, asset numbers, warranty details, and hardware configurations.
- Manage spare hardware components and IT accessories.
- Assist with periodic physical verification of IT assets.
User Support
- Provide technical support to employees for hardware, operating system, network, printer, and peripheral-related issues.
- Respond to support tickets and user complaints within defined timelines.
- Identify root causes and provide permanent solutions wherever possible.
- Escalate complex issues to the appropriate internal team or external vendor.
- Provide basic guidance to users on the proper use of IT equipment.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of desktop and laptop hardware troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of computer components including HDD, SSD, RAM, motherboard, SMPS, NIC, and peripheral devices.
- Hands-on experience with Windows OS installation, configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with desktop assembling, formatting, imaging, and hardware replacement.
- Good understanding of LAN, TCP/IP, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and basic networking concepts.
- Ability to troubleshoot network cables, NICs, Wi-Fi, and connectivity issues.
- Experience in installation and troubleshooting of printers and network printers.
- Basic knowledge of CCTV / IP cameras, DVR/NVR, and surveillance systems.
- Experience supporting video conferencing and meeting room equipment.
- Basic knowledge of antivirus, endpoint security, and system updates.
- Ability to diagnose technical problems systematically and resolve them efficiently.
- Good communication and end-user support skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple support requests.
Education & Experience
- Diploma / Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Computer Hardware, Networking, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in hardware, desktop, system, or IT infrastructure support.
- Candidates with experience in corporate IT support environments will be preferred.
- Certifications in Hardware, Networking, Microsoft, CompTIA A+, or similar technologies will be an added advantage.
