Operation Theatre Assistance
- Assist ophthalmologists during cataract, retina, glaucoma, cornea, oculoplasty, and other ophthalmic surgeries.
- Prepare the operation theatre before each surgery.
- Arrange and verify all surgical instruments, consumables, implants, and medications.
- Assist in patient positioning and preparation before surgery.
- Help with draping, maintaining sterile fields, and intra-operative assistance.
- Ensure smooth workflow throughout surgical procedures.
OT Technician Responsibilities
- Sterilize surgical instruments using approved sterilization methods.
- Operate and maintain ophthalmic OT equipment including microscope, phaco machine, vitrectomy machine, cautery, autoclave, and other OT equipment.
- Perform routine checks of OT equipment before scheduled surgeries.
- Report equipment malfunction immediately to the concerned department.
- Maintain OT inventory and coordinate for replenishment of consumables.
Infection Control
- Ensure strict aseptic techniques are maintained throughout surgical procedures.
- Dispose of biomedical waste according to Biomedical Waste Management Rules.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the OT at all times.
Patient Care
- Assist patients before and after surgery.
- Ensure patient identification and surgical site verification as per hospital protocols.
- Provide reassurance and comfort to patients while maintaining confidentiality.
- Coordinate with nursing staff and doctors for patient movement.
Documentation
- Maintain OT registers and surgery records.
- Record sterilization logs and equipment maintenance records.
- Update inventory and stock consumption records accurately.
- Assist in preparing reports related to OT activities.
Coordination
- Work closely with ophthalmologists, nursing staff, optometrists, and hospital administration.
- Ensure timely availability of consumables for scheduled surgeries.
- Support emergency surgeries whenever required.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology / B.Sc. Operation Theatre Technology / OT Technician Course or any relevant diploma / degree
- Candidates with relevant ophthalmic OT experience will be preferred.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in an Ophthalmology Operation Theatre preferred.
- Freshers with relevant qualifications and willingness to learn may also apply.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of ophthalmic surgical procedures.
- Familiarity with ophthalmic surgical instruments and equipment.
- Understanding of sterilization and infection control protocols.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail and patient safety.
- Basic computer knowledge for maintaining OT records.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
