Description
The CMDB and Configuration Analyst is responsible for maintaining the quality, integrity, and usability of CMDB and asset data that underpins software compliance, entitlement mapping, and lifecycle governance. The role ensures that software configuration items, asset records, and discovery outputs are accurately reconciled and suitable for reporting, audit readiness, and operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain CMDB software CI data quality across the managed scope.
Reconcile ServiceNow discovery outputs against CMDB records and software asset data.
Correlate HAM asset lifecycle information with software deployment and configuration records.
Identify, investigate, and remediate orphan software-linked configuration items.
Track and support resolution of duplicate CIs and data quality exceptions.
Maintain CI relationship mapping to support accurate deployment-to-entitlement linkage.
Support software catalogue management and ensure newly deployed software is represented correctly in supporting records.
Produce regular CMDB software data quality reporting for Configuration Management stakeholders.
Support the maintenance of accurate records across software, hardware, and related configuration data domains.
Contribute to audit readiness by ensuring CMDB and related asset records are reliable and evidenced.
Support transition and continuous improvement activity focused on data accuracy, baseline establishment, and control maturity.
Key Requirements
Experience in CMDB administration, configuration management, or IT asset data management
Strong knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB and related data structures
Familiarity with HAM, SAM, discovery, and reconciliation processes
Strong data quality, analysis, and reporting capability
Ability to investigate inconsistencies and maintain structured records
Good understanding of configuration item lifecycle and governance controls
