Role Purpose
The Data Technical Consultant is responsible for the technical build, execution, and support of data migration activities for an SAP S/4HANA transformation. This includes the development of ETL jobs, transformation logic, load preparation, data validation routines, and execution support during mock cycles and cutover.
The role serves as the technical engine room of the data migration workstream, working closely with the Data Technical Lead, Data Functional Consultants, SAP Functional Leads, and System Integrator (SI) teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Build & ETL Development
- Develop ETL jobs, mappings, and load processes using:
- SAP BODS / Data Services
- SAP Migration Cockpit (LTMC / LTMOM / Direct Transfer)
- IDoc/BAPI frameworks
- SQL and scripting
- Produce efficient, repeatable, parameterised ETL jobs for multiple mock cycles.
- Build data extraction and transformation logic from non‑SAP or legacy systems.
2. Data Object Technical Configuration
- Configure LTMOM migration objects including field mappings, rules, staging tables, and extensions.
- Support BP/MATDOC/ACDOCA‑related technical configuration for complex objects (BP roles, materials, CO assignments, valuations, etc.).
- Implement code conversions and derivations based on functional rules.
3. Data Validation, Reconciliation & Quality
- Develop pre‑load and post‑load validation scripts (SQL/Excel/Python).
- Support reconciliation between source datasets and S/4HANA target tables.
- Implement automated checks for completeness, consistency, and data relationships.
4. Mock Loads & Cutover Execution
- Run technical execution of mock migration cycles including extract, transform, load, and validate.
- Analyse defects, troubleshoot load issues, and provide technical root‑cause analysis.
- Support cutover activities including final data loads, delta capture, and post‑load checks.
5. Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with Data Functional Consultants to translate business rules into technical logic.
- Support SAP Functional Teams (FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, etc.) with data defect resolution.
- Provide input to design documents, test scripts, and runbooks.

Skills & Experience Required
Technical Skills
- 5–10+ years technical data migration experience (SAP preferred).
- Strong hands‑on skills with:
- SAP BODS (Data Services)
- SAP Migration Cockpit (LTMC/LTMOM)
- IDoc/BAPI interfaces
- SQL (advanced)
- Python/PowerShell/Batch scripting (nice to have)
- Understanding of SAP tables, structures, keys, and data models (BP, Material, Finance, etc.).
Functional & Process Understanding
- Ability to read/interpret S/4HANA data models, especially:
- Business Partner (customer/vendor merge)
- Universal Journal (ACDOCA)
- Material Management (MM, plants, valuation)
- Experience supporting functional mapping and transformation rule design.
Delivery & Soft Skills
- Experience with SAP Activate and structured project methodologies.
- Strong defect analysis and problem‑solving skills.
- Clear communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure during mocks and cutover.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent.
- SAP certifications in BODS, S/4HANA, or ABAP (advantageous).
- ETL/data engineering certifications beneficial.
Success Measures
- Clean, repeatable, and performant ETL jobs across all mock cycles.
- Low technical defect rates during SIT/UAT.
- Successful execution of migration loads with no high‑severity issues at go‑live.
- Positive feedback from Technical Lead, Data Lead, and Functional Teams.
Interaction Model / RACI (Simplified)
- Data Technical Lead: Receives direction, escalates risks, aligns on technical architecture.
- Data Functional Consultant: Interprets business rules → consultant builds technical logic.
- SI / SAP Functional Leads: Collaborate on load sequencing, validation, and error handling.
- Data Lead / PMO: Provides timelines, governance, and status reporting.
Pay: ₹5,000.00 - ₹6,000.00 per day
