Executive registered nurse has to assist in providing high-quality nursing care during pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases, ensuring patient safety, infection control, and adherence to OT protocols under the supervision of senior executive registered nurse.
Position Responsibilities: In addition to providing basic nursing care, responsibilities of Executive Registered Nurse include (but are not limited to):
Daily activities:
1. Assist in preparing the OT for surgical procedures, including equipment setup and sterilization.
2. Support senior nurses and surgical team during operations by passing instruments, positioning patients, and managing surgical supplies.
3. Monitor and record vital signs during procedures under supervision.
4. Ensure accurate documentation of nursing care and surgical details.
5. Assist in shifting patients safely to and from the OT.
6. Provide pre-operative care including checking patient identity, consent, and pre-surgery preparation.
7. Support recovery room nursing as assigned.
8. Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and comfort throughout the OT process.
9. Follow strict aseptic techniques, personal protective measures, and infection control policies.
10. Participate in cleaning and disinfecting the OT before and after procedures.
11. Handle soiled linen, waste, and surgical instruments as per hospital protocols.
12. Assist in counting sponges, instruments, and sharps before and after surgery.
13. Replenish supplies and inform seniors about low stock or damaged equipment.
14. Participate in drills, training programs, and regular skill development activities.
15. Follow surgical safety for all procedures.
16. Perform procedures as per the policies and protocols.
17. Assists for golden hour feeding and KMC.
Weekly activities:
1. Maintains cleanliness of the unit in an orderly manner.
2. Collects store indents in the absence of Lead Nurse Specialist.
3. Initiate scrubbing and fogging of the room in case of notifiable disease.
4. Attend Continued Nursing Education conducted in house and out house as per the job requirement and specifications.
Monthly activities:
1. Checks for near expiry medications and replenish it with new stock.
2. Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting as described by the reporting authority and line of control in the hospital.
