We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to drive large-scale rehost migration of VMware-based server workloads to AWS. This role involves end-to-end migration execution assessment, wave planning, migration tooling, cutover, and validation as part of a data center exit program with a defined deadline.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess existing VMware (vSphere/vCenter) server estate — OS versions, dependencies, storage, and networking configuration
- Design and execute migration waves using AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) for rehost (lift-and-shift) strategy
- Install and manage AWS Replication Agents on source servers; monitor continuous replication health
- Plan cutover sequencing, minimize downtime windows, and coordinate with application/business owners
- Design target-state AWS architecture: VPC, subnets, security groups, IAM roles, and instance sizing/right-sizing
- Handle network cutover planning — Direct Connect/VPN, DNS, routing changes
- Perform pre- and post-migration validation (connectivity, performance, application functionality)
- Troubleshoot replication failures, boot issues, driver/OS compatibility problems during test/cutover launches
- Build and maintain migration runbooks, wave trackers, and rollback plans
- Automate repetitive migration tasks (server discovery, agent deployment, launch template management) using scripting
- Coordinate with security/compliance teams on hardening, patching, and licensing (BYOL vs AWS-native)
- Report migration progress against DC exit milestones
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years experience with AWS MGN
- Strong knowledge of AWS core services: EC2, VPC, IAM, EBS, Direct Connect/VPN, Route 53
- Experience with large-scale server migration programs (500+ servers preferred)
- Solid understanding of Windows and Linux server administration
- Scripting/automation skills (Python, PowerShell, Ansible, or Bash) for migration tooling and discovery
- Experience with wave planning and cutover coordination in enterprise environments
- Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools during migration and post-cutover validation (CloudWatch, ELK, or similar)
- Strong documentation, runbook creation, and stakeholder communication skills
Nice to Have
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Migration Specialty certification
- Prior experience with data center exit programs under tight deadlines
- Experience with AWS Migration Hub for tracking large migration portfolios
- Exposure to regulated industries (BFSI, healthcare, etc.)
Pay: Up to ₹3,500,000.00 per year
