Role Overview
The candidate will play a key role in advising domestic and multinational clients on complex corporate and international tax matters, leading tax litigation strategies, managing high-value engagements, and mentoring teams. The position requires strong technical expertise, commercial acumen, and the ability to independently manage sophisticated client mandates.
Drawing inspiration from the firm's leadership and practice strengths, the role will focus on transaction structuring, international tax advisory, tax controversy management, business reorganizations, treaty interpretation, and strategic tax planning
Key Responsibilities
Corporate & International Tax Advisory

Advise clients on domestic and international tax implications of business transactions, investments, restructurings, M&A deals, and corporate reorganizations.

Design tax-efficient structures for inbound and outbound investments, cross-border transactions, and group restructuring initiatives.

Analyse tax treaty provisions, international tax developments, BEPS-related changes, and evolving regulatory frameworks.

Provide strategic advice on Permanent Establishment (PE), withholding taxes, capital gains taxation, business income characterization, and treaty entitlement issues.

Draft high-quality tax opinions, technical memoranda, client alerts, presentations, and thought leadership articles.
Tax Litigation & Controversy Management

Lead direct tax litigation and dispute resolution matters before Assessing Officers, DRP, CIT(A), ITAT, High Courts, and the Supreme Court.

Develop litigation strategies and prepare appeals, objections, written submissions, legal briefs, paper books, and hearing notes.

Collaborate with senior counsels and external advocates in high-stakes tax disputes.

Manage tax investigations, reassessment proceedings, search-related matters, and controversy management assignments.

Assist clients in dispute resolution mechanisms including APA, MAP, Advance Rulings, and other alternative dispute forums.
Transaction Advisory & Business Restructuring

Support clients on mergers, acquisitions, demergers, joint ventures, private equity investments, and corporate restructurings.

Evaluate transaction structures from legal, commercial, and tax perspectives.

Conduct tax due diligence and identify tax risks and optimization opportunities.

Advise on succession planning, estate planning, and holding company structures where relevant.
Client Leadership & Practice Development

Build and manage strong relationships with CXOs, tax heads, promoters, and multinational stakeholders.

Lead client engagements from proposal stage through execution and closure.

Identify opportunities for cross-selling and business development within existing client portfolios.

Participate in client seminars, conferences, industry forums, and knowledge sessions.

Contribute to the growth of the practice through publications, research papers, and thought leadership initiatives.
Team Management

Supervise, mentor, and develop junior professionals.

Review technical deliverables and ensure quality standards across assignments.

Drive knowledge management initiatives and internal technical trainings.
Desired Candidate Profile
CA mandatory; LLB preferred.
- 8–12 years of experience in Transaction Tax, International Tax, M&A Advisory, Corporate Restructuring or similar practices.
Strong expertise in Income Tax, International Tax, M&A Tax Advisory, Due Diligence, FEMA and Corporate Restructuring.
