Job Description: QA/QC Inspector
Company: Plasma Spray Processors Pvt. Ltd.
Location: Taloja MIDC, Navi Mumbai
Department: Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC)
Reports To: QA/QC Head / Plant Manager
Job Purpose
The QA/QC Inspector will be responsible for overseeing, inspecting, and testing components at various stages of the thermal spray coating process (including surface preparation, Plasma Spray, and HVOF coating). The role ensures that all incoming raw materials, in-process jobs, and final finished components strictly adhere to customer specifications, engineering drawings, and ISO quality standards.
Key Responsibilities1. In-Process & Final Inspection
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of industrial components before, during, and after the thermal spray coating process (Plasma Spray, HVOF).
- Inspect surface preparation parameters, ensuring correct grit-blasting profiles and cleanliness levels before coating application.
- Measure and record coating thickness (DFT - Dry Film Thickness) using specialized gauges and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
- Perform bond strength, hardness (Micro/Macro), and porosity evaluation tests as per required engineering specifications.
2. Dimensional Accuracy & Metrology
- Thoroughly read and interpret complex engineering fabrication drawings, geometrical dimensioning, and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Use precision measuring instruments expertly, including Vernier calipers, micrometers (inside/outside), bore gauges, height gauges, and roughness testers to verify micro-level tolerances.
3. Documentation & ISO Compliance
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive inspection reports, Material Test Certificates (MTC), Final Dimension Reports (FDR), and Quality Assurance Plans (QAP).
- Document and log non-conformance reports (NCR) for any deviations observed on the shop floor.
- Assist in maintaining and upgrading documentation to comply with ISO certification guidelines.
4. Shop Floor Supervision & Corrective Actions
- Collaborate closely with production teams, grinding operators, and spray technicians to resolve quality bottlenecks.
- Identify root causes of coating defects (e.g., peeling, cracks, porosity, uneven thickness) and suggest Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Monitor the calibration status of all testing equipment and measuring instruments inside the inspection lab.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: ITI / Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience in QA/QC inspection within a thermal spray job shop, heavy engineering fabrication, machining, or surface coating industry.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Hands-on experience with precision measuring tools (Micrometer, Vernier, Roughness Tester).
- Familiarity with thermal spray parameters, welding inspection, or NDT (Level II certification in PT/UT is a strong plus).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving ability, assertive communication, and the capability to manage quality compliance firmly on the shop floor.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to work with a leading specialized commercial job shop in high-precision surface engineering.
- Exposure to critical components across industries like aerospace, steel, oil & gas, and power generation.
- Competitive salary based on experience and industry standards.
